Question on "noise/sound" when putting car into REVERSE
If you all try this, lemme know what you hear, I know there have been other posts on this:
I put the car into reverse, I hear a metallic sound (normal) and then I back up a few yards and I hear another click. Then I put it into drive, and go forward another few yards, and the same "click."
Anyone?
Thanx
Pete

I don't here a click noise but I here different noise. When I start my car & I put it REVERSE to back & put it to DRIVE to go forward, I here some sort of vibration noise for about 1 sec. Some times, I here the noise 2x. I have appt at Santa Monica Acura to see what the sound is this comming Wed.
This has been discussed before. When you *first* start the car, putting the car into any gear (forward or reverse) will cause the ABS system to do a self test. Within 1-2 seconds of starting to move, you should hear/feel a "buzzing" sound that lasts for about 1-2 seconds. Then in about 5-10 seconds you will hear/feel it again for about 1-2 seconds. This is the ABS doing its self-test (twice) and is completely normal.
Actually I do hear the click sound. It has nothing to do with ABS as it happens all the time. Also, I noticed that when I put the shifter from D5 to P, I can hear a loud "clunk" sound. Pete, you getting the same sound???

The only noticeable noise I hear that's related to shifting out of P after starting up the car is the momentary ABS buzz noise; can't say I've heard any metallic clicks from doing so, although I would guess maybe it's brake pad/caliper related?
