Question for CAI owners

I know it's inevitable that at WOT there will be increased intake noise and I don't have a problem with that. In fact I'm looking forward to it. But what I'm concerned with is the noise it will make at idle. Is there any noticable hissing sound at idle? Also, what's your take on the by-pass valve...really needed?

Thanks for the input.

There is definatly a noticable hissing when the car is cold. But after a few min. the hissing is hardly noticable in the idle position. I don't think that is a big deal. When you have your windows up you cant hear the hissing at all. (warm or cold)

As for the bypass I think that it kind of depends on the type of climate you live in. As for me the bypass is not a big deal because I live in Arizona where we get sun nearly every day of the year.

you do hear a good deal of hissing, only if your outside the car or roll the windows down, that or when the a/c is on

I love the sound of it. I don't know why, but when I rev the engine, it sounds like my TL's turbocharged. (my CAI sounds like a BOV)

Thanks for the input guys. I'm still a bit leary...I really don't want that sucking noise at idle. I've got a short ram on my v6 4-runner and that thing is too loud at idle. I'm hoping the CAI ain't as loud. Oh yea, what about the bypass valve...is it really needed?

hehehe, the Butterfly-valve sounds more like a BOV, but when I had my CAI on, it sounded lovely! =) BTW, I am selling my AEM CAI w/Bypass-Valve. If anyone is interested, please PM me. Thanks.

Hey I am interested in purchasing your CAI. For some reason I cannot send PM's right now, nor can I browse the members area. Something is messed up with my account I think. Please email me at ChaosityZM@aol.com

no you have to be a gold member or premium member to use that function, and you need to pay a small membership fee to get that.

For those w/ CAI: Do you have to worry when going to a car wash (to those who do)
