Why did Acura/Honda move the horn position to the center of the steering wheel?? What if people are pressing the horn before colliding with another veichle...will their hand be blown off by the inflating air bag? I thought there are many people on the road that would react in a way where he or she will press the horn, telling the other veichle to get out of his/her way, before colliding with it. Just my thought....is it bad design or________. you tell me
Good point. I have no idea. I like it b/c its intuitive to hit the center of the steering wheel when you're trying to avoid a collision. But if you're not lucky enough to get out of the way, the hand.......I hope not.

I would have preferred Acura to have the horn activated by pressing the edges of the centre part of the steering wheel close to where my hands are on the wheel. I've often thought about this situation and heard horror stories of people injuring their hands/arms when the airbag activated with great force.
Because all the big boys like BMW, MB, Audi, Lexus all have done it that way.

I like the horn in the center of the wheel - It's a more instinctual place to put it. I had to get used to pressing the edges of the wheel.
Your point, however, is a good one!

Ever try to find the horn button while the wheel is turning, like when you're backing out of driveway or just turning a corner? This is one of the few (and minor) issues that I have with my '88 Legend. (Wish I could buy a brand new one). I agree that the middle of the wheel is the first place we instinctively go for the horn in an panic situation.

I say forget putting the horn on the steering wheel. Put a pedal for the horn, this way we have something to push with out left feet. Who thinks this is a good idea? I do

I personally like the horn in the center of the steering wheel. Those little "horn buttons" on the outside part of the wheel are annoying. I had gotten used to them on my Integra, but after getting used to the TL I find that I keep accidentally honking the horn ("beeping" would be a better description) with the heel of my hand when cranking the wheel around to turn or parallel park.
yeah i too like the horn in the middle of the steering wheel...it's a more natural place to go looking for the horn...and who honks the horn right before they are about to hit something hard enough to deploy the air bags...me personally i'd be hanging on to anything but the horn button...
