Post Question about the Type S Motor

What's up Fellow TL'ers? hehe! Well, I have a question, what makes the new Type S motor have 260? Compared to the normal TL with 225. I am getting a 01 TL, and I was wondering what is involved to bump up the normal 3.2 V6 to the Type S Specs. And then after that....I'm really considering that 3.5 conversion...sounds very interesting.

Okay..that sounded stupid...maybe I should just jump on the 3.5 Conversion huh? Oh well, It appears only Rick Case can do it, but i live in So Cal.

So I guess I want to know what makes the those extra little ponies in the Type S. Help me out guys. Thanks!

LOL! is it that expensive or something? how much HP can you put out with the conversion? I don't really want to spray.

it would take a 75 shot to compete with the 3.5...as far as converting to type S not worth it...3.5 well 3.5K $$$up to you

Weren't you complaining how much more expensive the 02' TL-S compared to the one your were going to pick up? We all said to just shell out the extra couple G's if you could and just get the Type-S. Plus I would rather have a factory Type-S than a conversion, wouldn't you?

Let's see......

The 3.5 Conversion + Comptech SC + Mystery Mod + Comptech Headers + Comptech Exhaust + Pulleys + CAI + NOS =

About as much money as you would have spent on just trading in your TL for a S2000 or a Vette.

But then again....whatever floats your boat.

the S's 35 hp increase over the P model is due to the trick intake (mostly, if not mainly). it has a second inlet in the manifold that opens up at certain times so there is more air (and possibly more fuel too) so it makes more hp. the P model only has one intake inlet.

Well if you are getting the 2001 for the style, then I can understand... but if you don't care much about the style, just get the Type S...

I personally don't think those serious mods are worth the money on the car... Especially performance mods... since you are stuck with a weak automatic tranny...

Get a second car or something else for serious speed...

Yes...I was the one. who was complaining The reason for staying with the 01 ..is because of the style. I guess all these mods are not worth it....maybe just the basic bolt ons..with Comptech SC. Ah well...Thanks guys!
