Question About The Transmission Recall
Question About The Transmission Recall
So recently I discovered that the transmission in my '00 TL was originally replaced due to the recall. When it was done, I don't know -- but it was.
With that being said, did this affect practically all Honda/Acura vehicles of that time frame? We're looking for a second (family size) vehicle. We've caught a '00 Honda Odyssey. But would it be affected as well? And if we look at the Odyssey, can we look for the oil jet kit or blue painted bolts to know if it was replaced? Or is it different?

I just asked a ziner about their 99 oddy and was told: nice ride, trans was replaced 3 times!! ac compressor failed, rear window issues (possibly child use related IMO)
and some other issues, but in the beginning it was great
A newer year Oddy with improved trans would be worth looking at, like by 07 the TL had a decent trans = probably same for the van

as far as I know BLUE is the color of warranty trans bolts
ask the dealer when doing the next step
To find out exactly when your trans was replaced go ask the dealer service desk to run your VIN
They can tell when, if done because damage was found to 2nd gear during inspection at recall -
or if it failed at a later date due to early clutch wear-out- and covered under the special trans extended warranty
And they can ck if the car is current on all recalls- there were already 2 airbag ones before this massive one in progress now

^^^ Yeah, Honda/Acura had some teething problems introducing their 5 speed tranny's. It's almost like they didn't have the engineering perfected and got in a hurry to sell more cars and vans with the V-6 motors.
Corporate greed cost them some owner loyality dealing with quality issues. No longer #1.
