Hey Acura 3200 i saw in your post a pic of your engine i noticed that you have a green ULEV badge on the engine. is that just some california emmission thing or what? i have a 2001 and i dont have that badge. did they just have that for 2000 models?

That also brings up another question. What does everyone's engine blocks look like. My 99 is not solid black so I wasn't sure if that has anything to do with a ULEV engine or just model years.

I believe that this is California Emission. ULEV=Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle

I remember reading somewhere when I got my car that ULEV was for cars in California. I also was curious as to why I had it. I never asked the dealer and it didn't cost me any extra so I just gave up. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this subject as well.

I also have the same green badge on my 2001 TL. and I bought it in NYC. So I don't think it's limited to only 2000 and in Cali.

It's definitely not limited to California as I'm in Connecticut. I said I believe that ULEV is for California Emissions, so the cars can be sold there.

But he said that he HAS a 2001 and DOESN'T have the badge.

well this is interesting because my neighbor has a 2000 TL and he dosn't have the badge either. it seems it depends on where you buy the car and not the year. interesting though because why not just lable all the cars that way i am sure they are exactly the same.. or are they? it it possible that the ULEV units have different Hp ratings because of emission restrictions? if they are the exact same engines why dont they all have the badge?

There are also Northeast Emissions, if you check your sticker from your car if you bought in in the NOrtheast it will say Cali Emmisions under the options. I have it on mine, 2001. I would guess the people down south dont have it.

They should leave cars alone and start making some damn ULEV trucks/busses. Those are the things putting all the smog in the air!
