Question about 03 Type S

Hi, I'm looking into buying a 2003 Type S. I remember someone once saying that only certain 2003 TL's were covered by the Acura extended transmission warrenty up to 100k miles. Does anyone know of or have a list of the VIN numbers of the 2003's that are covered?? Thanks!!

are you sure about that, I thought that they ones that were made later (around May or so) in 2004 were not covered by this. Can anyone else verify?

My 03 TL Type S just had it's 3rd tranny installed. Check the VIN at a dealer to see if the TL you're interested in has had a tranny replacement. If it's the original, then the warrany stops at 50K. Once it's been replaced, you're covered until 100K.

Um no. I have an '03 TL-S with 31k on it's original tranny. I have a letter stating that I'm covered until 100k miles (or 7 years). To my knowledge everyone whose car falls into the "covered" VIN range got one.

I have an 03 and I don't have the extended warentey. It's only for a VIN range, not all 03s.

See http://www.autosafety.org/AcuraTransTSB.pdf to view the VIN range.

What's the difference in VINs? Does this mean Honda has an actual FIX for the problem? I know about the jet, but that doesn't seem to be a FIX-ALL problems FIX.

Why do people go through so many trannies if there is a FIX????

haha, i asked if mine was in the recall list, but they checked and said no, then a month later they sent a recall notice, then a month later my tranny died and got it replaced... so, my guess is they are all covered, it's just a matter of fact when they will put it under the "list"
