OK, I bought my car with alot of the mods already done, and unfortunatly, I don't know half of the mods that are in it. I was wondering if someone could help me out. The mods in my signature are the ones I have gotten done or obvious ones. I find something new on my car every day LOL

The guy I bought the car from told me that it has a performance chip in it (how do I find out if that is true or not). I know the guy lied about alot of things (he told me the car had 400 hp HAHAHA too funny), so I'm not even sure if I have one in there but I would like to know. I can take pics if that helps!!!!

They have a piggyback chip for the TL (Unichip) but 400 HP is just stupid. He better have a SC with everything else possible in there and that would only be at the crank if he get that much power.

A stock 2000 TL usually comes in at 180-195 HP at the wheel.

 

and the unichip dont work for the tl-p. so he's was bulshitting you.

Is there a popular perf chip for the 03 TL-S? changing the shift points and such.....is that possible?----course, without it fuckin anything up with the engine or tranny. speaking of tranny, 13 days and counting for my tranny replacement. whoo, hoo.....

I just laughed at him about the 400 hp thing...some of the other things he told me were that it had dual climate control AC, $6,000 exhaust (uh..... no), he told me it went from 0 to 60 in 9.something seconds, that it had never been in an accident (carfax also didn't report any, but I found several bump spots that were fixed), and that the car was babied. He had told me that the car had been in alot of shows and won awards and then started making up things that he had done with the interior. He told me that they had taken alot of the mods off so that they could sell it ( ) And then he told me that the SS was D5 without overdrive LOL...I would hate to see someone actually believe that and go around bragging about their 400 hp TL...

Luckily I had been researching the TL for a while and knew alot about the car so I just laughed it off, got the car checked out by my mechanic, got a carfax, and bought the car anyway b/c he only wanted 14k for it and there were not major problems at that time, and I haven't had problems except the usual ones: tranny, SRS light, headlights needing replaced, seat heaters not working, and an oil leak.

Most of that was covered under warranty so overall I'm happy with my TL, I just wish someone could tell me what was really in my car!

I didn't think the chip worked with TL-p's...just wanted to hear it from someone else thanks tpatel.

yeah I do have aftermarket fogs, I'm about to buy the PIAA halo fogs, I have CATZ on there right now and one got cracked, and it stopped working.

Yeah I think he looked at me like a stupid little rich girl or something...I have had that problem a couple of times while I was looking for a car, but I always do my research and end up catching them making up shit.

no problem, im sure if you took a pic of everything in the car ie, engine interior trunk. like from every single angle we'd be able to tell you that majority of the things in the car. seems like got most of it figured out I/H/E. it could possibly have pullies. seems like the guy who was selling it to you had no idea what he was talking about either (refering to the "And then he told me that the SS was D5 without overdrive" statement). so im sure he didnt do anything more than bolt ons. could be wrong tho. detailed pics would def help tho

400 HP !!!! HAHAHA well you bought the car for the car and not the performance Im guessing. Unichip is testing a chip for the tl-p as of now but theres no way the original owner got hold of it. Are there even headers on your car?? Maybe he has a 125 shot of nitrous hidden somehwhere how much did you pay for the car.

 

Ahhh nm i didn't see it had CT headers already. Also CT echaust only cost $1100 bucks for cat back

 

Sorry for hoggin the thread, but one more thing. Don't put those nigger ass rims on your car. I guarantee they would look hidious and ruin the classy look of your TL. Go check out some racing harts or some axis rims and you should see something not so bling.

 

BTW I just could be a "nigger" and like "nigger ass rims" ....you don't know...and I looked up the price of the CT before I bought the car, thats how I knew he was lying...and tuna, if you bothered to read my signature you'd see i have CT headers also, and in my first post I put that I paid 14K for the car.

I have chrome 19" Zenetti's and though i need a drop (coming very soon) it looks
great and not "ghetto gangsterish" and i get compliments everywhere i go. Just go
with what you like but definitely don't go bigger than 19's

 

How's your gas mileage? Hopefully, the guy's "performance chip" wasn't one of those cheap resistors floating around ebay that hooks up to your air intake sensor. If you're getting bad gas mileage, then he probably installed one, and you should take that junk off.

 

oh you know what toast, you're probably right. My gas mileage isn't awful, I get about 300-350 to a tank with mostly city driving. It should be better though. I think I saw something like a resistor around the CAI. I have to go look and take pictures after I clean my car today.

I have decided 20's would look awful and rub, and I would like to lower my car again when I fix the shocks on it, so I don't need to bottom out and crack rims anymore than I already do around new orleans potholes as big as my car

 

20's on our cars are too big imo. ive only seen 1 car that looked good with 20's.



i wouldnt go bigger than 18-19 on our cars. 20's are going to rub unless you roll fenders and get a perfect offset. i think you would be happier with 18-19.

 

Thats the look I was aiming for, but after thinking about it, its not fit for my driving style. And I can't drop my car too low, I've seen slammed civics and accords get stuck on some of the potholes, they just don't have enough ground clearance. That TL looks tight though...

 

If someone lied that blantantly to me about anything I wouldn't have bought the car at all. He was just plain wrong.

neways, if ya want my opinion, chrome on a silver car is getting reall played. its like the black with the chrome lip that you see on eeeevvvvery single black car. not to mention they are heavy as hell. i think a nice polished silver would look sick. i have a white tl and thats the way im going with it.


as far as gas mileage 300-350 seems about right. i get like 295 a tank with a intake but i drive like a maniac. for I/H/E setup you should be happy with that range.

 

yes that mileage is good. no matter how i drive slow <---- very rarely does that happen or fast<----pretty much all the time 300 to 350 is where i get. the winter bled fuels are out and i typically see 300 as a max in the winter
