Question for 2003 TL owners
Just today, my transmission started to act up more than usual. When I was cruising at about 45 mph and let go of the accelerator, the car started to jerk (not violently but it was subtle) for a few seconds while it was slowing down. At another point in my commute home, I hit the brakes while going about 45 mph and it seemed to shift down 2 gears within a second, because the RPM jumped up and about 2 seconds later, it shifted up to correct itself. I called the Acura dealership where I bought the car (less than a month old) and they told me that my VIN was not covered under warranty for the transmission problem, even though the trannmission was rebuilt/replaced about 12K miles ago. I didn't buy the extended warranty - DAMN IT! Here's the question - was anyone here with the same predicament? If yes, did Acura repair the transmission free of charge or for a discount? Or did you take it to a place like Aamco? Thanks for your time.

I would be as nice as possible to the dealer and talk to them about good willing you a new tranny. Also maybe try talking to acura client services. BY PHONE
Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Standard time at the toll-free number (800) 382-2238 and be nice to them and see if they will cover it. Especially when it was replaced 12k ago

Thanks for the response. I don't think the dealership will give me a new tranny though, because when I was buying the car, they wouldn't even budge on replacing the cracked fog lamp or the evap purge solenoid (ticking noise) even when I threatened the walk out. The salesman and the manager kept saying that the car was being sold as-is. I did get a brake job though (new pads all around and all 4 rotors shaved), because the rotors were warped - as usual (at least from what I've read on here). I think calling Acura's Client Services might be the best option. By the way, thanks for their info.
Just to think, I was going to call Excelerate today to order the Comptech Icebox. If the tranny is starting to crap out, I need to hold off on my plans for the mods.

Call them and if the dealer was any good they themselves would work with acura in trying to get it fixed. If not maybe look into a different dealer
