Purple Ice by Royal Purple

I recently bought a bottle of RP purple ice. if yoiu don't know it is a coolant additive to provide additional reduction in collant surface tension and prevent hot spots and reduce bubbles in your colling system while providing additional corrision inhibitors to prevent rust and corrosion. I have read mixed reviews on BITOG and wanted to get your opinions before I use this stuff. I am running 50/50 with prestone EG mix and want to know if there is any benefit from using this stuff or if I will be getting this scum in my radiator and overflow tank. If anyone has used this please chime in and let me know oif your experience. I am particularily interested in those cases when it was used on a honda/acura product.

what kind of coolant are you using and at what mixture? Purple Ice says not to use with new radiators until 50/50 has been cycled first. how has the pruple ice helped? any scum issues?

No scum issues....it was added after the 50/50....its just a water wetter.....no big deal really. We use this type of thing in our motorcycles for years.

I've never tried purple ice but I have tried water wetter in my previous car and it did work.
But the TL only gets 50/50, it's not a ultra high performance car.

Honestly, unless your racing or doing stuff to cause extreme temps why use it? I let my car idle all day and Never Ever had a issue with temps and all my stuff was original 200k. What are you hoping to gain from it?

I bought it as a maintenance item. I want my cooling system to run at its peak. I run my car hard and even with thermoblok spacers the engine bay gets pretty damn hot, anything to reducing heat and hot spots to me seems good. I just want to make sure before I use it it is not going to cause any problems. also it claims to provide more protection for water pump seals and that is a good thing also. I do not expect big things from this product just want my car running perfect at all times.

fsttyms1 I know you are noy big on additives, I really want to know if anyone on here has used this stuff and likes the results. my car runs great and I want to keep it that way. I figure this stuff can only do good and I want some confirmation to my beliefe before I unknowingly pour this down my radiator.

According to the Royal Purple web site, it drops the water temp by about 5 degrees and

"It is formulated to reduce the surface tension of the coolant, which improves heat transfer through the cooling system while providing additional protection against rust, corrosion and erosion."

Exactly how is someone supposed to 'like these results'? The most someone could reply is they poured the stuff in and nothing bad happened.

Royal Purple makes good, expensive, products. Why couldn't you trust them?
