pulley holder questions?
pulley holder questions?
I bought a UR crank pulley and the pulley was removed using a pulley holder, which apparently has 4 small teeth on it attached to a 3' or so breaker bar to hold the pulley in place and then another similiar length breaker bar is used to lossen the pulley bolt. Will this damage the pulley or negatively effect it? The marks are small.
That is the specific tool used to hold the OEM pulley. Not to worry, the OEM pulley is designed with those teeth for the purpose of that tool to hold it. Using that tool on the UR is impossible though and if they used it to install your pulley, promptly tell them they owe you a new UR pulley because it may have been scored.
Its my UR pulley. I couldnt take off the crank nut with my SNAP ON im3500 impact gun. I also used my friends IR 1000lbs torque impack gun and a few others and couldnt bust it loose. Me and a co worker had to use the pulley holder and a 3 ftbreaker bar to take it off and it still wasnt easy. The pulley is still in good shape. It just has those 4 teeth marks that wont effect anything. Here are some pictures. It is very small.

Also, the marks seem to be out of the way of the belt. But if you're worried, and rightfully so, you could light sand down any sharp edges on the inner side of the pulley where the indentations are made to smooth things out.
