PS reservoir cap

Does the red cap on the power steering reservoir just push to close? Doesn't seem very secure. Does any pressure actually build up in this reservoir?

Yes - you just push it down. No pressure is build up in the reservoir. I did have the high pressure line coming out of the power stearing pump go out on my '99 TL a few months ago at ~ 230K. I was out of town in OKC, so I had a Goodyear shop replace it for ~ $650, including parts and labor.

Don't worry about it, and $650 is damn expensive. I could do an engine swap for that price.

It would actually be easier to remove the engine and replace that PS line, rather than just the line. I don't think it's possible to put the line back with all the clips 100% correctly without removing the engine.
