Problems on the Highway

Today on my way to work I noticed something strange when I was in 5th gear. The best way I can describe it is a feeling of the car downshifting. It was kind of like a little hiccup in power. The first time it happen it really felt like a downshift but little by little they got less harsh. It happened about 10-15 times on my 25 minute drive. I didnt feel anything while accelerating from 1st-4th gear. It only occured while maintining the same speed on the highway in 5th. The RPM's never deviated as this happened. Im really not sure what it maybe. Im not really a car guy. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

That's crazy, the last two days mine did that too. I'm on my 2nd tranny with about 5000K miles on it. I hope it's not what I think it is. It only does it once and never again. And, it doesn't do it all the time.

not the torque converter? hmmmmm..... if you can reproduce it 100% of the time, maybe you might want to ride a mechanic along to see what is their assesment of the situation.

Mine has kind of been doing that too since I got the new tranny just a couple of months ago. I figured it was just the computer doing that automatically or something. But yeah kind of scares me too.

Who knows. I called the Acura dealer and they recommended I drive it a few more times so that we could pin point the problem. As I said, it only happens while maintaining speed on the highway. No problems in any other gear. Still pissses me off. Perhaps it is a computer problem. Who knows. I still have the drive home to look forward to and we will see if it still is a problem.

If it is a computer problem then try to reset the OEM computer
by remove the negatif battery connection ...then start and let it
idles for 15 min and drive test ... oh yeah you must have the
radio code to re-enter it......

Update: I had no problems what so ever on the ride home from work. I have no idea what the trouble could have been. It has been extremely hot here (100degrees) over the past few days and perhaps that had something to do with it. Anyhow if it happens again im going straight to the dealership. I agree that I dont think its a trainy problem. Thanks fellas.

same thing has been happening to me. at first i thought maybe i left the e-brake depressed a little bit. everytime i take my foot off the pedal in a high gear, it pulls back and i drop like 5 mph in seconds (even if im going downhill). it has also been in the 100s here too. maybe this weather is messin up our cars?

mine does it when im cruisin @ say 80 in 5th gear for a few minutes and i give it alittle gas to downshift and go.. it harshly comes out of 5th.. but it did that the day i drove it home from gettin a new tranny. it doesent do it if you try to make it do it right after. you have to cruise for about 10 min before itll do it again.

Well its be relatively unnoticable the last day or so. In fact my tranny is shifting smoother. The weather has finallly come down out of the 100's into the mid 80's. Its also been much less humid. Im willing to believe the excessive heat may play a small role in the problem. Who knows.
