Problems after selling your TL???

I was in the market for a new car and ended up getting a 07 M45 on June 1st. I was in the process of selling the 03 TL at that time, and finally got a buyer two weeks after having the M45. The buyer picked up the TL and 3 days later the transmission failed. The transmission failed on me twice at 19K and 49K. The car on its 3rd failure had 82K. I was glad that buyer didnt ask for his money back at that time, but I got a call last week from him saying that he's scared of another failure and wants his money back.

Make a long story short, I told him he can take the car to any mechanic and if it has a problem I would fix it myself. It's been quite a headache with the car. Has anyone ran into any post sales problems. Under the law, are you required to refund money in the event of a failed tranny?

Isn't the tranny covered by Acura still? You should check with Acura.

Since you dont mention having paid for the replacements I am guessing you have a covered VIN car with 7 year 109k miles warranty
PLUS the court decided our odometer reads 5% fast - so members have been able to get
coverage past 109-to 114.4 by legal intent

There is no warranty on private sales at all- let alone against buyers remorse

If a dealer sells a car they offer , no warranty- 30 day warranty, and purchased extended warranty
If your buyer wanted that coverage they should have bought from the dealer

A call from you to the service MANAGER of the dealer that did the trans before can help get a replacement for the new owner
Has he even tried to get coverage and did you disclose the prior replacements?

Caveat Emptor means Buyer Beware for a reason

The car is covered under the extended warranty tranny recall. No, I didnt disclose to the buyer that I had 2 tranny replacemnets.

He has been driving the car fine. Just all of a sudden he's talking about a refund. He mentioned that someone told him that once a tranny goes, the whole car goes.

Buyer lives in my neighborhood, so I certainly dont want to wake up to damage to my car. Thanks for the input.

did you do the sold as is where is on the bill of sale????
if so then you don't need to help him anymore, hes on his own, plus you almost never sell a vehicle to a neighbor! (2cents)

The tranny should still be covered on the vehicle.. tell him to take it to the dealer.

After you sell him the car, you don't have to pay for repairs if sold as-is.
