problem, with rear windshield and tints..

anyone else had this prob?
well the guy who did it, while ago like last aug fucked it up hard, he did it in strips, not 1 piece, and now, i washed the car yesterday and put the defrost on to heat/dry up the windows faster....one hot spot on the tint has moisture in it still, and it shorted out the defrost.!! that one line is fucked, u can see the burn mark on the inside within the tint....im pissed....their warranty states that they aint responsible for any defrost fuck up....that was after they finished the tint, and write up the bill fo rme, all the warranty info is there...gay...any way i can get it fix or is it basically a new window?

how would there still be moisture in the tints if they were done last Aug??? I cant imagine that being possible, and the defrost lines arent made to heat up the window. I just had mine done, and he did the strips also. It looks perfect, but I havent tried my defrost yet. Are you saying the strip method of doing the rear window is bad?

yea id say it is. its not liek its not moisuture, the problem at first was it was moisture, cuz i it was fairly cold when i got it done, either way he coulda said not to do it, wait till summer, but yea, another thing, fuckers didnt clean my windows, i smoke, and u can fucking see ashes in between them, iu went back like in sept. and showed him, he was like "o thats no big deal, just deal with it" at the time i was like ok w/e, but since all these fuck up im goin in once weather gets good and demand him to fix it all, the rear is so shit. he didnt even do it close to being good, up close u can see all the flaws....the lines in certain spots and all the ashes underneath the tint....im gonna force those fuckers to redo it, or im gonna redo his gay blue civic.

but yea im guessing cause of the strip method, it fucked it up, like there was a mm gap of nothing, no sticky water so the flim can hold, and that space was expose for a long time...it just pisses me off....reason i didnt go sooner to get the tint touched up was cuz of cold weather, and those fucks said to come back in the spring....fuck sakes tho...its like a burn mark on the window i never see tints do that be4..like fried the tint..

haha wow that must be a ghetto tint job for sure. I talked to the guy I went to for a while and I was there for the most part when he was doing it. it was pretty expensive also so I told him it better look good! good luck with that man

thats weird i got mine done and its just 1 sheet of tint on it, you have to go to a place that has a computer programmed cutting method to ensure it is perfect

well when you tint you need to have the car in temps above freezing for a day. most people won't tint in below 32 degree weather. they either have to use the heat gun for long periods or keep it inside a heated garage for a day or 2. once the water behind the tint freezes its all over, you can't fix it and you have to redo it. no you don't have to get it cut from a computer, thats for people that don't know how to cut tint.

i know a guy that tints windows and even helped him out a couple times.

if the guys are cool, they might help you out if they didn't warn you about the water freezing. also if the tint is warenteed for life then you should be able to get the tint fixed.

you sure the defroster didn't blow a fuse?

it burned the tint?

what may have also happened is that they might have cut that line when they trimmed the inside. your best bet is to just forget about it. i think they sell repair kits that you find where its seperated and you paint a little line of this stuff. im not sure, but you would have to have the rear window untinted and that is a nightmare.

if you can live with it i would

That blows. The best thing imo is to replace the rear windshield and try to find another tint shop that uses the same film and have them do a one piece. Also, your insurance company might cover the rear windshield due to damage, but im not sure if that type of damage is covered.
