Problem putting together the subtledreamer style grill

So today i went out and bought the stuff and made the subtledreamer style grill
(really easy diy https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...highlight=mesh )

and yes i know i still need to clip off two wires inside my blue emblem

my problem is that the top of the chrome frame won't get close enough to the black backing for me to screw it back together - the mesh is in the way. do i need to cut away even more? i dont want to cut too far and have it not tightly secured.

anybody else have this problem when doing this style grill or just know how to fix it?

i had to have a friend help me; i squeezed the frame and the backing together while he put in the screws.. the mesh should be fine as long as it isnt sticking out the top. try putting in the bottom screws first and then the top ones

Check the back of the chrome piece. There are a couple little tabs back there. I had to cut mine off to get it to fit flush. Just re-did mine a couple days ago. I was having the same problem and cuttin those tabs off did the trick.

He didn't buy it, he made it. Click on the link at the top in the very first post for the DIY.

i tucked the excess mesh up in the inside of the chrome frame. it seemed to work for me. i also cut away "holes" intot he mesh to allow for the screw posts and the tabs.
