Unhappy problem with navi today

Something wierd happened to my navi today, I had left my car in the sun (100 deg.) for about 3 hours. When I came back and started my car the navi was displaying a map of Dayton, Ohio. It was getting very confused and not responding to any input and insisting on mapping all routes from a starting point somewhere in Dayton, OH. Pulling over, start/stop engine did not help!

After about 25 minutes of driving it automatically corrected itself and reset to the 101 freeway. I'm wondering what caused this and if anyone has experience this kind of thing?

My NAVI must have been talking to your NAVI. Maybe they grew up together in Ohio before they were installed in our cars.

navi issues

I had a similar thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago.

Engine running, put something in trunk. Navi not responding.

Shutdown. Restarted and all was then ok. Weird.

I had also had this happen yesterday, except I didn't put anything in the trunk. It just happened while driving, and boy was I pissed. Thankfully it came back, but I hope this isn't a bad omen.

After 18 months of ownership of my 2000 TL with Nav no major problems to report. I have the map screen on everytime Iam in the car. When I go to places even when I know the way I put it in the Nav. This is like trips to Baltimore MD. from Washington DC. & I have been going to Baltimore all my life almost 40yrs.
The only problems that I have had was one time the Nav asked for the code. I don't know why it did this because I had the car for awhile. The other problem I had was when I first got the car my 10yr old Nephew at the time was playing with it. He was pushing buttons & entering stuff & the thing locked up & froze.
I then turned off the car & restarted it & all was fine. I can't wait for the next updated version to come out this fall. I don't know what version I have. It would be the first DVD version since I have a 2000 model purchased in 99. I did not upgrade last fall but will get it this time. I forget how much more info the the lastest DVD got over the first one. Also was it true that the icons on the gas stations displayed the the brand name?

it's true. It didn't have that feature on the disc that came with my 2000, whnen I upgraded the disc last year it started.

What a coincidence--my NAV displayed the wrong location also; it thought I was 70 miles south of San Jose near hwy 101 when I was actually near I-5 in Sacramento. It was a totally clear day, so it's not like I didn't have sat lock; however, the signal display was initially 3 yellows, then later on no bars at all. After turning off and restarting the ignition the NAV functioned normally again.

Noticed that the first post was Saturday; my NAV started acting weird Saturday also. Perhaps something happed to the GPS signal sometime Saturday afternoon (at least afternoon PDT)?

I've still got a version 2.03 disc for sale, which is the latest (v 2.04 was a maintenence update for the MDXs only). Email me privately at pianoman41@yahoo.com if anyone is interested.
