problem with led in trunk

hey guys,
yet another led question =)
i replaced the light bulb in my trunk with a 6-led bulb. fits and works great, except now, the trunk indicator on the gauge cluster keeps flickering on and off as if the trunk is not closed properly. i checked by parking the car and looking through the rear-seat pass-through and see that the led light bulb itself is flickering on and off dimly even though the trunk is securely closed. i took this bulb from one of the doors and it worked fine there, so it doesn't appear to be the actual bulb that is the problem. any ideas of what is wrong or how to fix this?
thanks,
peter.

okay.
i've figured out what's wrong. the led bulb is not putting enough of a load to prevent current flow through the sensor. therefore, the indicator in the dash lights up. i will try using the 9 led bulb and see if that puts enough load to keep this from happening. if not, then it's back to the ugly hyperwhite. i could put in a resistor, but that's too much work =)

umm, no matter how many LED's you throw in there, it'll never put up the equal amount as a regular incandescent bulb. you'll have to put in a resistor, its the only way. thats how i did it for all my interior lighting.

okay, i've replaced all of my interior lighting with LED's and didn't have to use a single resistor. can you specify where exactly you needed to do that besides the trunk?

also, i know that it would never be equal to a regular incandescent bulb. but what i don't know is exactly how much of a load is required to prevent the indicator from being tripped.
