problem with homelink

i read the FAQ and the homelink manual, and when i try to program it, it never flashes fast, only slow. i cleared the codes and then pressed my opener and the HL button which immediately started flashing slow, but it never advanced. i also tried the rolling code thing, but it did the same thing after i pressed the program button on my opener. Any help guys?
thanks in advance,
matt

Umm do you have a rolling code garage door opener or is it the older ones with switches? Which one do you have?

You can't program the rolling code with the remote. When I programmed my HL, it has my old garage door opener code in it and I couldn't program the new rolling code over it. So I had to reset the codes (makes sure you do reset it properly) and after I tried it again I almost had the garage door come down on the back of my car. Also have some patients and don't let go too soon.

Also if you're having more trouble....my local Acura in West Palm had classes to teach you personally about HL.....maybe ask your local dealer?

My genie with rolling code has a program button on the opening unit itself (so get a ladder and open the light fixure part and you should see the button(depends on brand)). You press the button and the led on the unit starts flashing and you run like hell to your car and press the button you want to program.....after about 30-60 sec......the light should become in sync with the led on the garage door opener and finally the led on the garage door opener should turn off. (mind you I haven't had to program my HL for about 1.5 yrs so its not really fresh in my mind). Thats what I remember from doing it. I also had to program my HL to my gate opener which operates on the old switches. That is what you use the remote to program HL with. The reason you can't program HL with the rolling code remote is because thats the point of rolling code (so some1 can't steal your garage code). Umm do I make sense.....I seem to be rambling.

TL-IGHTS,

I had a lot of trouble getting the HL to work in my S4. I got the trusty laptop on wireless out, sat in the car in the garage and went here:

Home Link Site

Snoop around and it should help you figure it out. It helped me and my homelink worked beautifully , until I sold the car . Good luck.
