might be a grounding issue. if you ground it on the inside panel of the engine compartment, try grounding it on the negative side of the battery. i had this issue when i installed hid in my 03 accord. just a thought

Check that the grounds are correct along with the power wires in the correct position for the ballasts

true true. incandescent bulbs have no polarity so I am leading to a wiring mixup if you modified any wiring. If the HID kit was plug and play then another issue you may have is although you have 12 volts you may not have enough amps to fire both ballasts at the same time.

do you have a relay for the ballasts or you plugged them into the stock stock wiring for power?

the hid's pull less than the normals. I am going with a wiring mixup.

hmm. if there is no possible way for a wiring mix then and every component is known to be good, as stated above, you may have a poor ground.

its a techone ballast. connection to stock harness is permanent and so is the cables that go to the bulb. should i try and turn the plug around and install the plug in the wrong way on the drivers side socket ?

Could be a bad ballast. When I got my kaixen kit off the group buy mine came with a bad ballast. just narrow it down by first swapping bulbs from side to side then swap ballasts from side to side.

look inside the plugs and make sure the prongs arent messed up or pushed through on the factory harness. Make sure the connection isnt dirty or oxidized to.

you probably need a relay

my kit was plug and play, and I still needed a relay

sounds like it's not getting enough juice to start them up

HID use less power than halogen except at start up where they suck up a ton of power just to ignite them. sounds like the factory wiring cannot handle the load of the kit and you most likely need to install a relay to help with the extra demand

Maybe a fuse? Or defect from the factory?

Well the last thing to do is figure it out the old fashioned way. Check the orientation of the polarity of the connector on the side that does work using a meter. If the orientation is the same on the side that doesnt work then its a current issue and youll need to add a relay.

Don't know about that . I believe that the issues is clean power. Poor ground. maybe the relay will help that.

As for power, I had my 3G still igniting on about 10V of batt power when my wife said "the car won't start" (Crap OEM battery). So i get to the car and lover still has the headlights in on pos'n. unlock and "buzzzzzzz" go the HID's as they fire and warm up. Get into the car turn them off and attempt to start the car. NO WAY batt barely putting out 10v. Bad cell.

in short. HID uses MORE FORCE (voltage; which ignites high about 30kv but then runs at a constant ~400v after ignited and warm) but uses LESS POWER(watts) than halogen.

Reason that mine started w/low voltage is due to the fact that the ballast ups the voltage by design, the igniter give a quick initial burst to create the arc required to begin the process. the POWER required to do it is less than all the parking lights on the car pull.

i have a problem where my driver side one just clicks constantly and no light output. does anyone know if the mod where the fogs come on with the corner (Where the two wires behind the switch are connected) will affect this? I may have to undo that mod

This is your solution:

The same thing happen to me, only one side worked. The problem is the stock plug that would normally go the regular bulb. For some reason the wiring was reversed and since regular bulbs work either way. I just pulled the pins out and reversed the wires. TRUST ME...this is your issue.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

the black and red wire was reversed on mine as well. once you switch the position from the socket then it should work.

you need a safety pin to release the wires from the socket for the reversal.

hope this helps

If you swap the pins, if you ever for any reason have to use stock bulbs again you'll have to change the pins again. In order to avoid doing that, I'd just cut the wires before the socket and add some spade connectors and then cross the wires. That way you can revert back to stock if necessary.

Are you sure that the polarity matters with incandescents?
If so, why has this not happened to everybody with HID fogs?

You don't have switch the wires back. Regular bulbs work no matter how they are wired. I checked to make sure of this.

I think they were just lucky and the wires were correctly pinned or maybe have better ballasts.
