Problem with heated seat

My driver side heated seat doesn't function properly. It suppose to heat up bottom seat & back. But mine only heats up back, not the bottom seat.

Does anybody had same problem? Is it suppose to be work at the same time, like it's either works together or not working together?

My drivers seat quit heating completely. Parts were on back order for a couple of weeks but I go in next week to get it fixed. Luckily the mileage is below 50K do it's still covered on warranty.
Sounds like a fairly common problem for the heater to go out.

Yep, had the same problem... fixed by the dealer under warranty without any problems.

i got the complete opposite the bottom heats but that back doesn't. For people that had heater problems and got it fixed at the dealer did you get a whole new seat?

For my info - how much does it cost to get a new heating pad? I wouldn't be covered under warranty, so I'm just curious in case mine ever goes out. Paul - I'm 99% sure you do not need a new seat. Just a heating pad, so that should calm your nerves. If in fact it does require a new seat, then go get on at a junkyard! I can't even imagine what Acura would want for a new seat. but yes, I'm almost positive its just a heating pad that just needs replacement. How they get to that is beyond me though. Keep my updated, I've been wondering about this for a while now.

Nah, they just replace the heating element.....mine is going in on Thursday to get this done (approx 2 hours they claim). There are two different heating elements...one in the back and one in the seat. I believe they have to take the seat out to get to the bottom one but the back they can replace by just removing the back cover.

Mine is working fine so let's hope it doesn't crap out on me cause I am past the warranty period. Now that I think about it, I might have the extended warranty. Oh well, it's still working ( ).

when they take the seat apart do the peel off the leather covering? it would suck if they didn't know how to get the leather back on. then you would have wrinkles. anyone that had it done encounter this problem?

I had my driver's side seat element go. Took me about two hours to fix. This was about two years ago, so I am going from memory here. Removed seat (4 bolts, wiring harness). Removed seat bottom (bend open the metal clips). The heating element goes right at the fold, where there is a steel rod holding the crease. You'll see the burnt foam at the spot where the element quit. Cut the element on both sides of the burned spot, clean the wire, pull some wire to dive some slack, and solder. Insulate w/ high temp tape. Good idea to put some material as padding between the rod and the element so it doesn't happen again. The cover went back on without any problems. Has been working well for the past two years (and with this cold winter, it has been on every day). Takes some time and patience, but is free and you don't have to peel off the old element and glue on a new one.

My 99tl pads went out. the dealer had to send them out to replace, about 2 hours. Seems fairly common in the older tl's.. Anyone aving problems with them going out in the newer tl-s???

My seat bottom isn't working either. Too bad my car isn't under warranty anymore due to mileage. Thanks for the info on how to change it.

My seat backs don't heat up

Man, I just bought this car from my uncle a few months ago and have enjoyed the seat-heaters (even in central Texas)! Guess what, It was 32 degrees out when I went to work monday. Anyhow, I didn't even know the back of the seat was supposed to heat up! I've been a member for less than 24 hours and I've found so much info. Thanks everyone for making this such a great community. I'm glad I found out while I'm still under warranty.
Geez, the other day, I told my friend that it's a shame that it's only the seat and not the back that heats up.
