Printable accord trans swap guide?
i have '01 tl and the trans is about to go...got the CEL and TCS lights on, slipping between 2/3 and 3/4 up/down shifts...its still "driveable" but dont want to take the chance of getting stranded so doing the trans swap...
ive seen a bunch of posts on here about doing the swap to 06-07 accord v6 and was looking for a complete guide on doing the swap, something i can print out and give to my mechanic with all the necessary mods, parts to replace etc...
can some post or direct me a printable guide with all necessary mods to switch to accord trans, and also since i have the tranny out, what else should be replaced? I'm planning to replace the torque converter, but is there any tranny related or unrelated to trans that I should have replaced since while trans is out? the car has 152k on it and this is the 2nd trans im swapping out.
thanks for help guys and keep up the good work!

You should use the AV6 torque converter. I don't think there is a condensed diy on this swap since only 3 items need to be addressed before the tranny swap. The Accord tranny swap thread is several threads below this one as people always ask questions.....

It was in post 8. And, Dont call it a swap. It scares off some mechanics or will have them charge you more for it. Its really not a swap as nothing custom has to be done. Lay the 2 side by side and compare. There are just the 3 switches/wires on the TL trans that need to be swapped over to the accord trans as the accord uses different ones.
These are the instructions my brother used when he converted my transmission back in March 2012. I am five thousand miles later, and the car drives, shifts, and runs great. I have never been a Honda fan, but this car is great. As you can see with the short amount of time and the large amount of miles driven. I recently took the car on a 2200 mile roadtrip it was amazing. Enough said about the tranny swap. Make sure to do all of the conversions when the trannies are side by side.
The entire trans oil heater assy, including the plate under the heater/cooler itself, and all of the brackets *don't forget a new gasket for the plate and anew trans filter* If the old trans has an oiljet kit installed, you will have to cut the t's out of it and fasten a new hose to both ends of the intermediate line.
The transmission range selector (otherwise known as 'neutral safety switch')will have to be swapped from the old trans, the newer switch has a different connector.
There is a small wire harness that connects to the 3 and 4 clutch pressures witches and the oil temp sensor, that will need to be swapped as well, theharness has a different connector to plug into the engine harness, but all theplugs going to the switches / sensors are the same.
You should not have to drill or tap anything, that's only with Odyssey transmissions, and very few at that.
I don't think the TL-S comes equipped with the power steering speed sensor, butif your's has it, it will need to be taken out of the picture... remove thehoses going to the rack, then loop a small hose point to point on the rackitself.
...... and that's it! Real simple, everything is direct bolt-on.
I used a tranny from an 06-07 Accord v6 auto trans listed as this:
A.T., Cpe (2 Dr), 3.0L (6 cyl)
MAKE SURE THE TRANS YOU BUY COMES WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER, and if it DOSEN'Tget a NEW ONE!!!
DO NOT USE THE OLD ONE, YOU WILL DESTROY THE NEW TRANS!!!!

I'll print out that post and give it my mechanic. Do you suggest replacing anything else while the trans is out? Like mounts, hoses, other sensor etc? Stuff they need to be replaced eventually so might as well do it now while the trans/torque converter are out of the vehicle?

You must replace the rear main crank seal as they are known to leak. Can only be done when tranny is out. Get seal from dealer...is cheap.
New motor mounts would nice. If you want to save money, ebay has a 5 mount kit (3 engine +2 tranny) for around $150. Motor King is the brand. Folks here have installed it, and me too. Get the ones with the vacuum assist for no vibrations at idle.
