Price for installing engine mounts??

this shit is expensive!!! so far ive already paid 240 for all 3 mounts. i went and got a quote from my normal shop which usually has good prices (installed my headers for 100 bucks)

they quoted me just under 300 for installin the mounts. they said labor was 6 hours for it.

am i getting ripped off. how much shold i pay, and if anyone in the bay area has a good shop that will do this please tell me!

Dude if it makes you feel any better...

My DEALER wanted $600 to install the front and passenger side mounts. Parts & Labor.

I haven't yet brought it to another mechanic to check.

They also charged me $980 to replace a catylyic converter (Parts & Labor)

thats robbery. its a 30 min job. only the rear should be slightly expensive (maybe a hr) to change due to location

they charged you that much for replacing the cat because they are expensive to begin with

Apprantly I have a "California Acura" even though I bought it in NY. So I need a special catalytic converter. I can't find a price for an OEM catalytic converter. I looked up the parts for the Front and Side - should be $150 for the parts.

So according to $100/hour rate - this should be about $250 somewhere else right.

there is no such thing as a "California Acura" all Acuras are certified in all 50 states
check underneath the hood for specifics.

Mine is 1999 TL. He said the catlytic converter they ordered was not for my car, that it had a California catyltic converter. Is this another round of BS they are offerering me for not getting the part?

"California" parts sounds like a total crock.

And I had two or three mounts replaced when I had my tranny swapped for around $400.

i was quoted by my mechanic for $255 to change my front and right motor mounts.
i made my mechanic pick up the parts wich came in honda boxes.

parts-- front $115 and right $60

labor--$80

it took him 20 minutes to change both.

of courser they can. The can be changed in your own driveway. The mounts them selves will have to be bought thru the dealer. no one carries them but them
