Power steering pump...dead!

So I brought my car into markham today, and sure enough, the noise I was hearing from the left front wheel, and from the engine bay is in fact the power steering pump. There's also a very slow leak in it, which will be fixed on monday, as they have to order the part in...

bummer!

if its a crackiling noise it shouldnt be the pump. the pump is more of a whiny sound. i would have the cv joints and ball joints inspected and look to see if any thing is loose.

well jeff atleast this time at teh dealer they didnt say "COULD NOT DUPLICTE"

It's funny you mentioned that kris, cause they tried to pull one of those on me. Believe it or not, when I got to the dealer, the service advisor heard the noise loud and clear and admitted that yes, there was in fact something wrong with the car.

When they got it up on the hoist, mario (the service advisor) called my cell and was like...guess what Jeff, the sound is gone. So i was like "you guys fixed it already", and he was like "no, I mean the sound isn't there anymore, and we can't reproduce it". So I said, "look mario, you know very well that something is wrong with the car, you heard the sound for yourself, please replace the pump, because both you and I know that is what's causing the noise". So he agreed to it, I'm getting a new pump installed on monday.

I would have fucking taken my car and crashed it on purpose had they not found anything wrong.

Sometimes I get so fed up with this car. On my way out from the dealer, I heard a new rattle, which I immediately went back to the dealer and went on a road test with a techy who was able to find the location in which it is coming from (driver side, rear headliner). It is coming from right where the headliner and rear windshield meet. There's the little black box on the rear windshield for the FM antenna, and about a foot to the left of that, the rattle is occuring. He said it's coming from the 2 clips which hold the headliner in place. I told him too look into this problem on monday when i bring it back...He agreed that he would do so.

Sometimes it pays to find a good dealer.

I love markham, but they still on occassion try to feed me the "we couldn't reproduce the problem" line...
