Power Folding Mirror Ideas?

Hi,

I wanted to get some opinions on how I should wire my power folding mirrors. I was originally going to use a JDM switch with a fold button, but that would replace the heated mirror button.

Should I just wire it to my handbrake? That way they will auto fold in when I park and pull up the handbrake. Anyone have another car with power folding mirrors that can give some insight?

I would wire it to the door lock mechanism so that when you lock the doors via the Keyfob it would fold in the mirrors and unfold when you unlocked the doors. The only issue is linking it so that locking from the inside won't cause it to fold because you'd then have to always drive with it unlocked obviously.

I assume you are using JDM PFMs?

The OEM ones wouldn't work as converted PFMs, from what I remember with people who have done the same with the 6GA.

Curious to see how you end up setting that up, I don't think I have seen a 2G TL with them.

Yea, I thought about doing that, but I don't want to drive with the doors unlocked. Maybe I'll look for a signal that only works with the remote control lock/unlock, and just lock manually from the inside.

Yea, I am using the JDM mirrors. I am setting it up so that I retain the defrost, as well as the memory position mirrors.

Forgive my ignorance but don't these cars also auto lock when you go into drive? That would prove an issue Have you looked into just installing an alternate switch or maybe using the window lock button? !

I don't recall the 2G TL auto locking, but I haven't driven mine and it's been a long time since I have driven/ridden in my wife's old 2G, but I don't think they auto lock.

No Auto Locking on the 2G TLs.

Heck, we don't even have that annoying seat belt chime when driving w/o the belt fastened.
