Potential New Owner

I guy I work with is getting rid of his 2003 type S. I can have it for $14,750. It has 69k miles on it. I think this a pretty good deal whats everyone think?

I know it has been well cared for however Im concerned about the tranny. I think he said there is a 100k warranty on the powertrain so that shouldnt be issue if anything arises??

Lastly I did a search and it seems like many people have OEM body kits? Im just looking to add a little to the car but keep it simple. Is this the route to go or are there some other good options?

Thanks

I just bought a 2003 TL non type S for 17K with 30K miles. Sounds like a good deal and dont worry about the tranny. Sounds like Acura has been great when issues come up

Yeah this guy had some deal worked out with our company think it was a lease. Turns out it was actually a loan and now he owes $14,753 to our company. Hes only got two weeks to come up with the money so he offered it too me for that. I have seen similar TL's going for $17 up to $20.

yea that's a great deal, as long as it hasn't been in any accidents or anything like that. snag it before someone else does!

I already put the wheels in motion. Only upgrades im making are:
Tinting Windows
Body kit
Full on Audio replacement

Can anyone recommend a % tint. The color is white. I dont want totally black it out. Im looking for more of a "classy" look. Like you can still see the shadow of people that are in the car.

It sounds like a good deal.

Here are some more questions to ask:

Has it ever been in an accident or had mechanical problems?

If you have problems with smoke, ask if it's been kept totally smoke-free.

Can you get copies of all the maintenance records?

Does everything work?

Regarding the tint, check for any local laws that might limit tinting. In California, for example, people can get ticketed for excessively dark tint.

Good Luck!

Bob

Thanks for the advice. Car is smoke free. I have been told no mechanical flaws. The guy has worked in the office next to mine for two years so he has pretty much owned and driven the car the whole time I have known him. Plus I could give him hell if anything was to go wrong.

I think the first major project will be the sound. Although the tough part is making everything look stock. I hate when you replace things and theres no doubt there aftermarket.
