No, not at all. I had this setup since May of 1999, no problems yet. What I did was I took the resonator out and ran a dryer hose from the bottom of the car up to where the filter is. So when the car is at speed, it will create some sort of ram air effect. Also, it draws cold air from outside the vehicle.
