Kenwood's DDX-6019 is my favorite double din screen. Easy. Easy. Easy to add on to. My second choice is the Pioneer AVH-P6800. It's a 6 disc in dash changer with great features. Moderately easy to add on stuff. The user interface is somewhat hard to navigate.

As far as navigation.... Pioneer has very little competition. The AVIC-Z2 is by far the best NAVI piece on the market. If you are looking to keep it simple and not spend $2200, check out the AVIC-D3. It still have plenty of usable features and the same navigation system as the Z2.

Please email or PM me if you have any questions. I am the AZ vendor that makes the double din kits and prepares the harnesses. If you're a research nut... go to the Sponsored Sales and Group Buys area and check out this thread....

What about the DNX7100 and the Z2...? The ultimate battle, I cannot decide!

You'll notice that I haven't mentioned the DNX. I don't like it. It's not user friendly. It's hard to install. And, the Pioneer navigation is far ahead of other companies as far as usable features. But it's your choice. You should purchase a unit that you are comfortable with. Spend some time playing with the DNX and Z2.

I would love to but no shops around here carry either unit. I love Pioneer (I have their 50" Plasma) and think they are a great company. I do agree that the Pioneer excels in the audio portion of the units but since Kenwood has Garmin, I would think it to be the superior navigator. I don't mean to hijack this thread, I think its a good and valid discussion if anyone else wants to chime in with input/experience with BOTH units. Do you sell the Z2?

I don't sell any retail products. I'm strictly an install shop. I was the Manager of a big car audio retail chain for 9 years. We carried both the Kenwood and Pioneer units. Garmin does make great portable GPS and Navigation units. However, Pioneer makes the S1 and S2 portable NAVI units also.... which both kill anything that Garmin has. The DNX-7100 is Kenwood's first attempt at navigation and it shows. Pioneer, Alpine and Eclipse have produced navigation products for many years. Eclipse is failing after they lost their Lexus/Toyota OEM contract to Pioneer. And Alpine is focusing their navigation strength on OEM Honda/Acura as their biggest customer. Pioneer is the high roller for aftermarket navigation and their polished products are a clear example.

Who made this kit for you? Was it unclad4? I am getting the same double din deck as you. Just looking into what I need exactly for it.

Also I checked out that eBay store to buy the woodgrain kit for around the double din and it seems that bdtrimsusa doesn't exist like stated before but if your search bdtrim then you will find them. Just they only do chrome door pillars instead of the wood grain kits. I really want the wood grain around.

Thanks

Very, very nice everybody. And uncald4, you rock man. I'm definitely gonna have to get a kit from you for this. Also, I like your custom sub enclosure. Good work!

And no, the screen does not hit the shift knob when it opens. I'll post a better pic of it later.

No mine does not come close to hitting the shift knob. I have three tilt settings, and the eject for the CD and SD Card just pushes in and out like regular SD cards work. Also when I remove the face I have plenty of clearance. Hope that helps out. This deck is great. Just waiting to install a camera, or vid screens for the head rests. Yea there are cables for that too.
