Everytime I lift my foot off of the gas, regardless of what speed I'm at, it feels as though the car is downshifting one gear (even though the RPM's don't fluctuate at all). Is this normal and are others experiencing the same thing? OR is this a sign of future tranny failure/issues??

Sounds like the grade logic feature kicking in,.

 

Yup...

The reason the RPMs jump is b/c the torque convertor keeps locking and unlocking as your speed varies. In addition to the torque convertor, the Grade Logic of the tranny may be coming into play. If the car senses any kind of gradient it will use the tranny to slow the car down, so it will almost feel as if you're braking when really it's engine braking.

So.....it's either the Grade Logic or the Torque Converter locking/unlocking. You're fine!!

OK...you say the RPMs DO NOT fluctuate...I might have this checked...it sounds like what I was experiencing when my tranny failed...but it did this for a few months before it actually went.

 

i too feel this sudden decline in speed, i have been wondering about it but didn't know how to explain it really. thanks for the help guys
