Possible Ignition Problem

Possible Ignition Problem
I'm in NC right now but my brother was using the car in NJ while I was gone.
He tells me while he was on the parkway the car felt like it shut off for a second (All lights lit up on the dash, as if you were turning on the car while this occurred). Then, 15 seconds later it happened again. I asked him if the car shifts the same and he said yes. Those are the only times it happened to him.
The car now has 138,xxx miles and I bought it with 88,xxx miles. Ive had it for about 4-5 years and never had to change the ignition switch. I understand there is a recall on it but I will have to check on acura.com to see if the service was ever done to it.
It doesn't seem like its the transmission but instead the ignition. I will have to see how the car drives once I get back tomorrow since I know how it should feel when shifting through gears to make sure its not the transmission.
What do you guys think? Has this happened to people? (Ive heard cars shutting off completely on the highway because of the ignition but not for a second or two)

if you have a 99 with the ignition recall expect it to fail again 3-4 times during your ownership- they seem to have used the same part to replace the bad one
It will do the lights as you said- and the key icon flashes usually with it
Try wiggling the keys to see if it will shut off at idle- Test in Park!
If there are more than a key and fob on the key ring, its too much weight and wears out the ignition sooner
Switch back is what gets replaced- no sweat diy after the first ones been replaced

always remove NEG battery cable when working on the electrical
Have radio and nav security codes before doing that- you will need them
If you have the POSITIVE cable in your hand and neg cable hooked up, you just became the short path to ground--oooops

iirc the spcial screw is drilled out or otherwise removed at first replacement of switch under recall
Let us know if that solves it completely- get the charging system checked just to be sure all is well

It might be that Acura stopped installing the mystery screw at some point. I've seen very few reports of people finding it. My 1999 TL had one and it was a real pain to find because my Helm service manual only showed two screws. It's not needed to hold the cover securely in place and I just left it off when I was done.
