Port and Polishing for TB and Intake Mani

i think the whp numbers are a little more like
200-300 For an intake ~ 6whp
400-1200 For headers (except megan headers) = 10-15 whp
600-1200 For Catback = 8 whp
3000-4500 For Supercharger = 35-40 whp
200-300 For an intake ~ 6whp
400-1200 For headers (except megan headers) = 10-15 whp
600-1200 For Catback = 8 whp
3000-4500 For Supercharger = 35-40 whp

icebox intake and ct headers gave 32whp to a six speed cl-s. i would expect 20-25 to an auto.
also you can't just state that a certain mod will give u "x" amoutn of gains... all these bolt on mods work together and affect the powerband as a whole.
35-40 whp for CT s/c with stock boost pulley (3.5-4 psi i believe). with hbp(about 6.5-7psi)
you can get it up to about 70whp increase... but really the gains are all across the powerband.

is it that easy to take off throttle body and intake manifold? just take off the bolts and remove the part? I always thought the bolts were nearly impossible to take out, maybe ill do that in my spare time

when you open your hood you see the piece sticking thru your plastic engine cover, remove those 12 bolts then lift straight up, then inside tehre are 8 bolts remove them the intake will now come off (that is if you removed all hoses and cables that need to be) it only takes like 2 hr or less to disconect , clean, and reinstall

i HIGHLY doubt you will get 20 from Port and Polishing. are you going to port match every thing too??

Hey Patrick, My name is Greg and I am from O-FL Motorsports. I have seen documented dyno's of before and afters with all parts on an individual basis that I personally have done, and can say you will get a documanted 5-8 hp from the Throttle Body, 18-22 HP From the Upper and Lower intake Manifold, and anywhere from 20-45 hp From the head depending on what is done to it. I must say A and J racing does not know what they are doing, as I have thousands of hours on the flow bench and know how to port these motors. I have done numerous acura's, and none have been disappointed with our work. The cost is very little and with the horsepower gained, it is a worthwile investment. With your throttle body, It was over-bored. If it was left paper thin, then it will kill air velocity coming in, cfm will be better, but flow will not. I have to say the shop that did your throttle body did not know what they are doing and do not understand the principals of airflow and the dynamics of air velocity and proper measuring and allocating.

On a side note, to publicly state that A&J doesn't know squat - they have been tuning Hondas/Acuras for a long time. OK, you say you can do better, and can prove it. So go ahead and do a port/polish on a 3.2 TL-P, and post before and after dyno results. If the results are good, I give props to you (you are right, A&J was wrong). If the results suck (minimal gains), then it's egg on your face. I have nothing to lose, nothing to gain in this debate (I'm just a bystander).

No, you don't seem to understand, I have done all Acura TL engines and that is what they have gotten. Those gains are strictly for an Acura TL 3.2 Engine. Not a Domestic V8. I will try and contact some of our customers for their dyno results.

I have done none of their cars. Please don't confuse my shop with another and try and give me a bad reputation by stating I did cars that I didn't and the gains weren't there.

Look, it was a question: "Haven't you done Austin's car or some of those other a-worl* guys cars?" If no, then no. The other people's cars I referred to were done in Cali and/or were sent off to King Motorsports.
I know of your shop, you have a good reputation. No one is slamming you. But when you purport gains of a mod, on an automotive forum, you should realize someone might ask you for dyno support. If you are offended by that, well, I've got a homemade intake that I'll make for everyone for $500 each that I guarantee will yield 99whp. How many takers do I have? Oh yeah, pay up front please.

Oh, no problem. I'm sorry if it came out the wrong way. I wasn't offended at all. I was just trying to explain that the gains are there and if done right like my shop is accustomed to, there will be the gains that I stated. Dyno results and writeup for all shortly!

well shit i was gonna go to the dyno but guess WHAT ARD PERFORMANCE DID ?!!
THEY FUCKING ME THE WRONG FROG HARNESS !!! I have a vafc2 that was going to be hooked up so i could dynotune it and get like 10-15 runs in and 2 hours of tuning for 125 bucks
Rather then spend 60 just to do two pulls and air fuel and then have to spend 125 to get my vafc2 dyno tune
So I was going to run at dynotuning the following
1. Setup with vafc turned off
2. setup with vafc turned on vtec lowered
3. setup with vafc turned on fully tuned
I wanted to see what gains the first couple of runs were going to be with the vafc off in order to see the gains made from the port and polish.
But ard fucked up. Apparently the frog harness that many people have on their TL's is non existant according to ARD Performance. So now I have to ttalk to Pascal at Frog and get the right thing overnighted ... errr what a night.
Dyno/Dynotuning will be done next week.

Without dyno proven gains this is a waste of money. Members have done it in the past. Some actually lost power, others hardly gained anything.
In this case, there is no "before" dyno so even if he dynos it now, any gains won't be shown. It would be nice if it did prove to show a worthwhile increase (especially since i'll have an extra intake manifold available to a member within the next 4-5 weeks) but we just aren't going to know if this work achieved anything without hard numbers to back up the "butt-dyno" claims.
