Question Poor Soundproofing

I have 3,000 miles on my TL and love it, execpt for one annoyance.
while driving (even at low speeds),the noise level inside the car is very loud. The car simply has a very loud ride.
Is this common to all TL's?
I also experience the wind noise above 65 mph.

???

I've never had this problem.

My TL is relatively quiet... but I guess it depends on what you are used to. TL is the most luxurious car I have ever owned. And it is the quietest that I have owned too.

No problem with wind noise here.

Maybe you have poor insulation. Not all TL's are made exactly alike. Warranty should cover any repair done.

what car did you drive previously? that may have something to do with it. personally i thihk the tl is quiet sept at high speeds i do get wind noise like you mentioned. its just the fat mirrors i suspect. i forgot who did this to their car (VDO?), but has the M3 style mirrors helped reduce wind noise?

Mine's pretty quiet too, especially after changing out the stock tires! My TL is quieter than my old Accord for sure...and I liked that cars quietness already.

Marcsb, I agree with you! The car is noisy. At least my car is. I believe it's the quality control because it's built in America. Even at idle I can hear outside noise. Let me know if you ever solve this problem.

Wink

Foam the A pillars to get quite the outside sounds. This helps big time!

jhalderman, have you tried this on your TL? I slipped a piece of paper at the A pillers and it seemed pretty tight.

Wind noise? Don't you listen to music, your favorite CD, news, sing along? Seriously, my TL is so quite, my friends fall asleep when I take them out to lunch on the way back to the office. Just yesterday was doing 90 mph with no radio or music and it was quite, so quite that I have to look at the needles to make sure engine is running.
