Here's a shot of my TL-S's trunk with a VW transmission case, a box with the rest of the transmission parts and a box with a set of H&R sport springs. I could proabably throw in a set of golf clubs on top of the springs, move the two boxes together and then add a soft sided weekend bag.
The TL trunk is huge. We just came back from a two-week, 1,300 mile trip to Vegas, Newport Beach and Anaheim. Try doing that trip with your significant other in a Porsche 911. The seats in a mid-80s 911 are nowhere near as supportive nor comfortable as those in the TL.

I'm sure the cubic footage is there, but it's a question of orientation. Once you put one suitcase flat on the bottom, the issue is whether the other one would fit:
(1) on top? (trunk not high enough)
(2) beside it (trunk floor not large enough)
(3) on an angle -> maybe!!!

guyz...I just picked up relatives from the airport who came from France for 4 weeks. They had 3 fullsize suitcases, and 2 medium suitcases. I was able to fit all three fullsize suitcases, and one of the medium suitcase in the trunk. the second medium one went in the backseat with 3 adults, me in the front driving, and another adult in the front seat....
I was probably pushing my limit of weight in the car, but whatever, I was still prowling down the highway roads.
However, you have to becareful on the highway for big bumps. With the car that heavy, you gotta be careful not to scratch the bottom of the car.

Two fullsize (and i mean fullsize) and a medium one, did that last week for a short road trip.
To clarify.. the medium one contained my stuff.. the two fullsize ones my wife's stuff... for three days..
