I bought my TL-S 3weeks ago with Nav. I am 54yrs. old and drive a Comaro Z-28 6spd. I am very pleased with my TL. The nav. system is great. The Zenon lights are awesome;however, the sound system is just average. I have a custom sound system in my Z-28 that is awesome. I hear a lot of people wanting a 5 or 6spd. manual Tranny for the Tl-S. I am very pleased with my 5spd auto trans. It is very smooth.

42, but full of childlike innocence and wonder (i.e. profoundly immature.)

2002 TL Type-S
WDP, Parchment, Navi
Custom, High-Performance Molybdenum Muffler Bearings --At least, that's what the salesguy said...
Roadbrew (TM) Dashmount cappuccino machine --Messy & dangerous, but worth it.
Bobbing-head dog figurine in rear window --Stylin!

I'm 67 and retired after working over 40 years as an aircraft mechanic. Also been riding motorcycles over 45 years and still ride a 2000 Harley Fat Boy. Always enjoyed good cars and bikes. My silver TL-S is one of the really good cars I've owned in my estimation.

Sporty X type
Well, almost to the big 50, but still love cars, luxury, performance, good looking style, & the Tl has all that! (Maybe the TL-S later this yr?)

Looks like this is a twenty-something type of car! Does anyone know the target age that Acura was shooting for?

I just turned 28. I'm dang close to getting a TL-S, but I'm holding on to my RX-7. I just don't know if I can let it go.
It still looks new. Turns heads. I can run with new Vettes, but I have a one year old, and probably need a 4 seater. And with you guys talking about hopping your TL-S up keep making me say why buy one and try to make if faster? I have an extremely fast car now.
Decisions Decision....

I can sympathize with you needing a 4-seater. Trust me, the one year olds turn into big kids fast and maybe even more on the way? Anyhoo, when I turned 30 I was having a married with children crisis and my husband bought me a Camaro. Let me tell you, my kids hated driving in the back of that thing. They were little so I didn't think they would even care but they still talk about it to this day. The TL-S gives you two cars in one - - Sport sedan and safe family car. With front and side air bags as well as the beams in the side doors for added protecion, you can't go wrong. Safe, family transportation was also #1 on my list.

25, buying TL-S in a few weeks. (As soon as my M3 is sold)
Isn't it amazing? I don't have the count, but it looks like 20 to 28 year olds constitute the largest portion of the TL-S drivers! And these are all the people screaming for RWD or AWD and a manual tranny!
Here's my take on it (generalized, of course):
people before 20 either drive a Civic, an Integra GSR, etc. -- relatively inehpensive, fun cars, not very practical. The rich kids drive Vettes, RX-7's, etc.
After 21-22 some people still have fun, and keep their Civics, or even buy a Vette, a Porsche, whatever. The rich kids trade in their Vettes for Porshes. The rest of us get married, have children, really want that Vette/Porsche, but don't have the money, plus need a family car... Hey, TL-S! (or Maxima, Accord... never a Camry).
By 30, men stop thinking SUVs are chickmobiles, and start buying Jeeps, Explorers... no wait, that's 4-Runners, Pathfinders... The rich kids add a BMW 740 or Audi A8 to their Porsches. Some add more.
At 45-50, kids are grown up, no need for a big car, but mid-life crisis is over (where's that Camaro?), and men want a bit more fun... but a 2-door? I didn't know people still drive those .
Personally, I can't think of a better car than TL-S (unless you are the rich kid, get yourself an M5 or something). It's family, it's safe, it's relatively sporty, and it's a Honda -- you can add another gazillion horsepower, make the ride stiffer... anything except a fifth wheel.... If only TL-S had the seats as good as those on a CL-S....

TL-S soon, very soon

I have a 2002 TL type S and I am 54yrs old. I just sold my Z-28 with 112K mile and 6spd. Many people put down GM products but my Z28 was totally trouble free and not one Rattle. While my T-S is spirited, the Z-28 will run circles around it. I do like my Tl with Nav. The Zenon lights are great..

I am the oldest TL type S owner at age 54. I just sold my Z-28 6 spd with a 112K miles. I know people knock Gm products but I had no problems with the Z-28 and not one rattle. The z-28 will run circles around the TL type S. However, I do like the Acura and love the Nav system. The zenon Lights are awseome..
