Thumbs up Plexus rocks...

I finally found the aerosol can of Plexus at the PetSmart. They use it for polishing acrylic fish tanks. Well I had some nasty swirl marks on my plastic gauge face. Couple of sprays of this stuff and wipe with a clean soft cloth and they look brand new.

Too bad I already bought a new gauge face to replace the old one. Oh well....

Here is what the Plexus can looks like in case you want to find it.

Are you referring to the clear plastic face that the gauges are behind?? Those are pretty scratched up if you look at them in the sun..

Wonder if that plexus stuff works on the fake wood trim? I've been wondering how to clean that part of the car properly..

Yeah the plastic that covers the speedo, rpm.....

I'd try it on the fake wood trim. Remember it's clearcoated so it should help.

Good tip! I will have to try this too. We don't have PetSmart up here. I'm guessing Plexus should be available in any large pet store chain?

Just went to the local pet smart, but wasn't able to locate the product.
NSXNEXT: what department in Pet Smart did you find it? The fish section right?

Yup in the fish section. Each store might carry different stuff. The other places I would try are:

Marine shop
Motorcycle shop
Auto parts store

Neil, you definitely have too much time on your hands. So what's next, a product that cleans the seatbelt?

BTW, I guess I'm going to PetSmart soon.:p

Patrick,

We've got PetSmart all over the place at malls. That's where i get my parrot's food from. I think there's even one in Richmond on No 3 road and Alderbridge.

I can't speak for Plexus but I can say that Meguiar's #17 Clear Plastic Cleaner is the ****! It buffed out all the scratches in my gauge cover and even fixed a few skipping CDs! It rocks. I also use Meguiar's #10 Clear Plastic Polish, though the #17 gets it so clean I don't see a difference using the #10 or not.

The nice thing about Plexus is:

1) It's an aerosol and does not leave any residue
2) It is supposed to be anti-static - my gauge cluster attracts dust like they is no tomorrow

Are you supposed to clean the guages first and then use Plexus or does it actually do both? Up until now I have been spraying the with eyeglass solution and rubbing dirt out and then using those eyeglass silicone sheets to rub out any lint or grease. They really don't scratch when I do that, the only times i've messed them up is when I use paper towels or don't wet them to slide off the dirt before I rub around a towel. Im going to check out this Plexus stuff. By the way what did it cost you?

Yup, just make sure when you wipe it off, go across the CD in a striaght line, not in circles.
