I have a quick question. I had my car is Park nad neutral and it didnt rev over 5.5 rpm but when i but it in gear then it did.Is it a safty thing from the computer chip.
One more thing i was driving abt 45 mph in traffic and then i heard a big bang i didnt know if it was my car or someother car next to me but i stopped over and check for leaks.everything ok and i also started the car again and no engine light or transmission light came on. so i suppose everthing is fine cause the self diagnosis check of the car was fine. do you think i should get it checked. Btw we do have warranty on engine and transmission up to 100k right???

 

The rev-limiter will not allow you to rev past 5000 rpm's in neutral. Its an engine safety thing.

It probably wasnt your car, that souns like like an exhaust system problem, you would of known about it right away.

and may I ask why would you want rev that high in neutral?!

 

After I heard the sound i rev he engine to check if everything was ok.

 

Yeah, its normal and prevents overrevving and VTEC from being activated.

You reved up to 5.5 and then put it into gear? I hope you're not doing neutral drops... that'll kill your tranny even faster

 

Look out for any chips in your windsheild. It could have been a rock hitting the car. Happened to me, and a few days later I saw the crack.
