Please respond to this , reply and let me know what kind of problems do you guys have with your Tl's, and mileage and year.

Example, like the problems we have, transmission, srs lights, raddle with moon roof, car seats, navi flicking or not turning on, HID goes out, anything wrong with your TL post a reply.

 

2002 with 23k miles. My main problem was that the unibody didnt hold up too well against a concrete divider. Am I the only one experiencing this problem? Does anyone else agree that our unibody is too soft? Maybe I'll take it up with the dealer once I get my next oil change and see if I can get a unibody replacement.

 

1999 TL with 44900 miles

Rattles (moonroof, doors, sub, dash, etc.)
radio overheated and wouldn't play cds (replaced)
seat heater replaced
wrinkled trim on rear doors
transmission shifts hard and at the wrong time sometimes slips (flushed four times)
engine pulley replaced
engine buzzes at 1200 rms
engine idles extremely low when starting a warm engine
engine pings and sounds like its gargaling sometimes at 3000 rpms
engine feels very heavy sometimes even under light load
window motor replaced
theres more but this is just off the top of my head.

 

Rattling Moonroof- Finally fixed by Keyes Acura

Squaking seats- After I got my springs installed they started to
squak... I think they took my back seats out to
install, now it squaks... aRg!@ Should c if i can fix
it btw...

Left brake light out- I kick it... it works =) (btw gonna get that
fixed as well...)

Tranny- If it werent for sport shift =) My car would be fine! It is
a little wierd shifting to second... gives u whiplash!

Stalling- Must be my CAI... car has very low rps when cold and
sometimes it reaches zero rpms and shut off.

Keyes Acura- Those scavengers tried to scam my poor mother for 2000+ dollars... This is what happened. I had just installed my springs and kit and when my mom dukes went to get an oil change they told her she needed new springs because the springs on the car were not the right ones( comptech )- yet they sell the comptech springs! They told her the car will be ruined with the comptech springs on, and quoted her for brand new STOCK springs and installation. LOL!!!
She came home all pissed with a quote of:

$200 each spring(x4) = $800 + oh yeah dont forget alignment AHAH!

Im not sure but I think they wanted $900 for oem springs...

They didnt even care to ask if I had my stock oem springs,
they just wanted $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!

Neva goin back to any Acura Dealership!

Same here. 99TL 65k miles. Also:

- EGR port cleaning, about 3 times. Made the engine light come on. EGR kit and new valve install 2 weeks ago.

- Noise at idle.

- Power steering bearing went bad. Had to install new bearing and at the same time replaced all seals. What a pain to do. Long story. Cost $35 and nearly 2 days of work.

- Radiator and fan broke. This one was my fault. Long story. $2k to fix.

 

RATTLES EVERY PHUKING WHERE-NONE WAS FIXED! STUPIDAZZ DEALERS! ~ "No, I don't hear a thing!"... phukin deaf?!?

-MOSTLY ANNOYING-REAR PASSENGER DOOR, BUT THE HANDLE.

-REAR SUBWOOFER COVER

-RATTLE AT OEM SPOILER (JUST BEGINNING TO HEAR IT TODAY)

-SEATBELT SQUEAK!-CLAIMED TO BE BUT WAS NEVER FIXED BY DEALER!

-AFTER HAVING THEM TO DO "TRY" AND GET RID OF THE RATTLES FROM THE MOON ROOF, MY PHUKING ROOF IS RATTLIN NOW... NO MUCH, BUT....(not to mention, they dirtied up the interior with black grease on the clothed-car-roof, major chunk of grease right under my phuking steering wheel, damaging my new $200 some dollar pants, seatbelts, steer-phuking wheels and hey!... much more!!!...) ALL HAPPENED WITHIN 3 VISITS...YUP, THAT'S ALL IT TOOK.... (THEY CLEANED IT UP AT THE 4TH VISIT...SORTA....., AFTER I TOLD THEM ABOUT IT....)

BUT WAIT!!! THERE'S MORE!!!

-THE ANNOYING TRANNY PROBLEM. THIS IS WHAT THE GUY SAID, "YOU STILL HAVE LIKE 10000 MILES TO GO UNTIL YOU HIT THE 50000 WARRENTY MARK, THIS MAYBE THE BEGINNING OF THE PROBLEM, IF SOMETHING SEVERE IS BOUND TO HAPPEN, IT WOULD HAPPEN WITHIN THE 10000 PERIOD...." NOW WHAT DA PHUK IZ THAT SUPPOZ TO MEAN!?!?!?!?

-IN ADDITION TO THE PASSENGER SIDE, REAR DECK AND SPOILER RATTLES, THE FREAKIN MOONROOF RATTLE, SEAT /SEATBELT SQUEAK, STILL EXISTS AFTER THE SERVICE.

I LOVE MY CAR... THE LOOKS, THE POWER... JUST ABOUT EVERTYING. BUT THEIR ABILITY TO PERFORM APPROPRIATE AND QUALITY SERVICES AT SOME ACURA DEALERS ARE VERY QUESTIONABLE TO ME... AND BECAUSE OF THAT, SOMETIMES I FIND MYSELF TRYING VERY HARD TO ENJOY MY CAR... OR PERHAPS I'M JUST TOO PICKY....

 

2300 miles and have no problem yet

 

99 Heather Mist-Navi- Approx 83,000 miles

* Tranny Replaced-recently
* Rear Window Trim- Replaced
* Front Driver's Seat Leather Crack- Replaced
* Rear View Mirror fading- Not replaced. $167
* Brakes changed at 75k
* Battery Replaced at 62K


No other real problems just the occasional burnt bulb.....

Great car and great service only at Park Ave Acura....
Everywhere else was horrible....

 

'99 TL w/53,000 miles.

1st gear starting to slip (alot)

 

2002 TL-S 16,600 mi

- Squeaking in dash (not fixed yet.)
(Pleasanton Acura put foam tape in - don't work.
Sunnyvale Acura put greasy gel in - don't work.)
- AC (fixed)
(hi pressure broken - Pleasanton Acura fixed it.
Stevens Creek Acura just recharged AC and claimed
it fixed it.. it went bad after a month.)
- Sunroof rattle
(Pleasanton Acura fixed it.)
- Trunk lock latching unit
(Stevens Creek Acura broke it and Plesanton Acura
replaced it.)
- Minor rattling in rear window.

I believe the squeaking things can be fixed if your dealer
is really trying. My 98 Accord V6 coupe used to be
squeaking like hell. Menlo Honda made effort to fix them
all and it's quiet now (even after 3 yrs 70,000 mi of
driving.)

Never go to Stevens Creek Acura, they make things worse.
I will take my car back to Pleasanton Acura to see if
they can fix the squeaking dash during next oil change.

There are just about everyone on this board that have some kind of problems with their car. So just find out excatly number of memebers on here.

 

2002 with 12,500 miles.

Here are my problems:
1) I can't stop driving it.
2) I'm paranoid of where I park.


Seriously, I haven't experience any problems (knock on wood).
My car runs great...and I couldn't be more satisfied.

2002, 1,170 Miles

-Steering wheel rattles
-Somewhere in the rear seats rattle

 

2002 TL-S purchased 4/01, 23K miles.
Let's see, where should I begin.......
Rear deck rattle, seatbelt rattle/squeak,
moonroof rattles, entire center console where
radio is squeaks as I rest my right leg against,
drivers window motor replaced, front brake
disc warped had Ramsey Acura resurface
(they didnt give me new pads either),
Front wheels can't seem to be balanced right
(the damn car shakes around 95+), or maybe
it's the tranny which sucks !! ss mode not
responsive enough (getting worse) and auto
is jumpy, especially during hard acceleration.
Oh, and I bought a 2001 CL-S before, it had
so many problems that the dealer bought it
back from me (after I spent months writting
letters and calling American Honda)
I guess I'm a sucker.

 

1999 TL 47k miles w/nav
Keyless Remote sometimes not responsive (pisses me off the most)
Rattles - moonroof (dealer fixed by lubing)
Rattles - seat belt (dealer fixed by lubing)
Rattles - dash (only occurs sometimes)
Squeeks - seat
Nav - occasionally self reboot or does not come on
The driver's door lock/unlock button alumnimum chipped

 

My '00 TL, 101,000 miles (salesrep) ---- two front rotors, one heated seat pad, that's it! Car has been great, or I'm real lucky.

 

Problems with brakes, tranny, windshield wipers, 99, 35k. With all these problems that were having, would anyone recommend this car for new buyers out there.

 

MStyle, did the dealer replace your seat or did you have to pay for it.

83K on a '99 TL in Brooklyn ? Where are you driving to crank up that kind of mileage (wondering out loud) ? My guess is a lot of regular out-of-state trips. I've got a '91 Legend that just hit the 60K mile mark. Also, you single out Park Ave Acura for special mention. Have you ever dealt with Acura of Brooklyn a.k.a. Plaza Auto Mall and if so, how would you rank them ? Regards. Glen

1. makes more sounds than a high school band.
2. transmission does weird sh1t.
3. 3rd stereo reciever.
4. brakes have been repaired from warped rotors
5. replaced 3 tail light bulbs
