I am really close to getting a TL-S (I think)! I have 5 dealers that I can work with...and so far, I have talked to 3 of them and the best price I have heard so far is $30,900 which includes TLS no navi, dest, protection package (splash guards, trunk tray, wheel locks), all season floor mats, and rear wing spoiler. I would like to get down another $500 or so....?
also, what would anyone recommend as far as financing for 60 months--best rates? I saw that eloan.com has 7.35%.
I was also considering waiting until Sept and then getting a manual TLS or the new manual IS300? I have had a Honda with manual for 7 years and have no complaints. But I test drove the CL-S and liked the power/luxury combination, even though it has auto. Now that the TLS is available, I am not considering the CLS anymore.
Has anyone regretted not getting a manual transmission---or has the TLS been fun nonetheless?
Thanks for any input!

Remember, $30,900 is just the price of the car. Consider tax, (if you are in California, it’s like 10%), licensing, and paper works fee….
Now you said you got eloan.com for 7.35%, that sounds good, but make sure they pre-approve you before you get the car, otherwise you will be stuck with a car and a very high interest rate (from the dealer usually run about 9% APR). If you work for a large company, they might have some banks like Credit Union. Check them out also. I am a first time buyer and my credit union approved me loan for 7.45% APR. I asked the dealer if they can beat that, and they said no. Oh, one more thing, shop around, but don’t apply for loans everywhere. Every time you apply, they open up your credit report, and it’s recorded. According to one of the financial advisors, the less activity on your credit report, the better it’s. For example, let’s say you apply and shop around for best offer (APR) 6 or 7 places. You will have 7 records on your credit report, and next time you apply for something, most likely, they are not going to approve it. So, watch out what you do with your credit.
I recently got TLS. W/o Navi, OTD (out the door) is $32600. That’s only with wheel locks and mudguard. According to your quote, it doesn’t sounds too bad, but if you don’t need those accessories/packages, don’t get them; the dealer usually over price them and try to raise the price of the car. When I talk to the sale person, when they start throwing in all these junks, I said I don’t need all these and let’s just talk about the base price with OUT THE DOOR. That’s important too, I think it’s best to deal with them OTD price instead of the car price. If you deal with them OTD price, they can’t throw in surprises.
On what kind of car you want to get….I would say prioritize the features that you want in a car and choose the car that best fit you. I test drove both IS 300 and TL S. I ended up with TL S because I am getting most for my $. IS 300 is less in horsepower, but smaller and lighter. TL S is more powerful, but heavier and bigger, etc.. Also remember, you will be with this car for next 3 or more years, so get what you like and be happy with it.
Sorry for the long message =)

When I picked up my TL-S I recall seeing that the Honda purchase rates were something like:
36 months 3.9%
48 months 4.9%
60 months 5.9%
Check into these, I may be wrong by a point but they were pretty low from what I recall.
Get a price for just the car, and the components separately. This will make it easier for you to guage the real costs. The dealer is going to charge around $600 for that rear wing, and you can get it from thhis site(Tim) for about half.

TL-S gets me to work and back. Personally, I have no incentive to wait (not for $500, $1000 or $2000). I love driving a stick, but it's a TL. What's the point?
If you want to enjoy drive during the weekend, get a nice little roadster. Even Miata is a good choice. How about the new Civic SI?
TL just get me to work when I'm half asleep.

I got pre-approved by E-Loan for 7.35% and took all of the paper work to the dealer. My sales guy took it to the finance guy and they matched the rate - - no problem. But then I put over 20% down on the car. I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. The financial company they used is called Primus. Good Luck!

ROADMAN - those rates were for Honda Accord LX 4 cyl only. I was looking @ Accord EX V6 to compare the increase to TL when I looked into those rates. Did not apply to EX.
There is a site to find these things out.
Sorry, my wife isn't standing behind me to tell me where it is.

I think 7.35% is a decent rate right now.
As far as the manual/auto trans question,I can't say for sure because I don't have my TL-S yet, but I am kind of looking forward to the auto after 11 years of floggin' my Maxima's five speed through rush hour traffic. I'm sure I'll miss it sometimes, but I believe the rest of the car will make me forget quickly.
Good luck with your deal!
