Planning to tint windows but it's expensive!

i have a budget of $180. Do anyone know any tint shop in salem, oregon or nearby places that charges less. I called few shops and the lowest they went were $225.

I say black spray paint, looks like tint and its 99c at walmart.

Mine was pretty expensive too, i guess the shops all copy each others prices in w/e city you live in.

There are different kinds of tint.
- dyed
- ceramic
- metallic

I decided to go with Huper Optik nano-ceramic tint.
I felt the heat difference between dyed and ceramic and in my opinion the ceramic won.
I had my tint shop install 35% on all 5 windows.
The 35% is comparable to 5% tint in terms of heat reflection and UV protection.

I know its a bit much, and believe me when the salesman told me the price my jaw dropped. But its well worth the money if you can afford it.

It also gives the car a different look.
I have a silver car and from far way, the tint is very reflective almost mimicking the silver paint. When you get closer to the car it turns into a dark shade, obstructing view inside.

^thanks
I mainly wanted to shock ppl with the price and get reactions.

I did buy the tint because it did provide the best protection from the Texas heat.
we see temperatures in the 100's in the summer.

How about this, get me a quote on huper optik 70% for my front windshield.
I bet you'll be hard pressed to do so.

Don't know if this has been discussed before, might be ridiculously stupid.

What about overlapping tints? Say you have 50% tint and you want to get 35%, so you add on 85% tint. Math is probably a bit more advanced than simple addition, but would tinting on top of tints work?

I got a quote of $185. They use suntek brand tint film. They are also offering a lifetime warranty on the film. This is the cheapest quote i got.

never heard of suntek. i think mine is 3M Solarguard.

you might have to go a little out of your way but i think you can do better on price. although the lifetime warranty is good.

Keep looking, but always remember, you get what you pay for, even with the lifetime warranty.

I just got mine done last week - 15% on the back and 35% on all the sides. I paid $170 for it, and wish I would of waited until warmer weather. It is taking forever to dry in this weather ( 20 degrees - Michigan ).

I think I paid about 250 for my tint job using formula 1 tint. It was a bit steep but 10 years later it's still just like the day I got it, no fading or bubbling. Keep in mind you get what you pay for!
