Angry Pissed

Let me say that I love my TL-S but there are two things that really piss me off about it.

1. The clear coat sucks, Ive only driven 700 miles and been on the freeway only once and got rock chips down to the primer of the paint.

2. The DVD Navi system sucks arse, everything about it sucks from the annoying disclaimer at startup to the slinky database. Has anyone tried MS Streets? its got every single street in the U.S. and its not even on dvd.

Does you MS version have business names/gas station locations/phone numbers?

Sure its not gonna fill the whole dvd but maybe more than a cd.

I believe the DVD has 100+ road geometry attributes for each street, besides the software is a lot more sophisticated than MS Streets.

The disclaimer is reasonable - there are so many a$$holes who will sue if they have their brains in their a$$ and have an accident while using it (not to mention the greedy lawyers who are ever ready to file these frivoulous lawsuits)

The Acura navi is the best out there and it ROCKS! If you want to see bad try a Mercedes navi :yack: or even worse AUDI :yack: :yack: :yack:

I agree. I heard it's awesome!

JAVAGOD, pretty cool lineup you had going there. I've never seen four Puke-Faces go simultaneously!

Lexus navi is a piece of crap.

It cost 4-5k. Damn for that money i can buy a very nice home entertainment center.

Oh yeah i don't think the resale value on the lexus navi is as good as the resale value of the Acura TL.

I am also sure that Acura sells more navis than lexus, therefore it is in FACT better.

MS streets is good, but can you find velcro strong enough to hold your laptop/PC on top of your dashboard?

You're just bitter because you couldn't even come close to owning a GS430, and that you got shut down in another thread loser.

Bring it right in, and make them fix it one way or the other, and maybe consider XPel 3M protectant on the front.

What a retarded comment. Let him post his opinion like you posted yours. Almost makes it sound like YOU are the one who can't come close to the GS430, even though you'd like people to think you drive one. On top of that, it sounds like owning a GS430 is like the best thing in the world.

Exclamation

MS Streets does have all the restaurants, ATMs, Fuel Stations, etc just like the Acura Navi.. Hmmmm... Does that with 640 meg versus a DVD? Which is missing entire states? I think they must not be using any compression or something... It can obviously be improved. I love the Navi, don't get me wrong, but it is a little bit weak, considering it is DVD-ROM!! One thing I would like to see is the birds-eye view? Is that feature implemented yet? The navi in the INfiniti q45 is nice, but not touch screen , but it does respond to voice commands

My 2 cents

2002TL-TypeS.

I see you're in LA too. I've used my navi everywhere around LA and it's always had accurate street info, except for maybe a deserted mountain road. I'm very happy with the system and am having a difficult time understanding how your coverage could be lesser.

You'll get used to the disclaimer screen in due time. You'll press the OK button without even knowing it.

Vandy, his response wasn't with regards to the topic, he was warned and then shut down by Soundspeed in another post and was simply searching other posts and flaming me regardless of what I was saying, so please do some research before you post, the moderators did. And yes I do own a 430, but since this is an Acura board I don't think it's either necessary or appropriate to put pics of it in my sig, others do but I choose not to. I've been a ClubLexus member for 2 years, traded in my 2000 GS300 for a 2001 GS430, but if you don't believe me I could care less. Just know the facts before you flame please.

Lexus nav didn't allow the driver to type in a new address while the car is in motion. You have to stop your vehicle to do it. They improved the speed on 2002 nav., not sure how that compares to Acura's.

BMW, Audi's nav can't compare. I have no exp. w/Mercedes' nav.

Yeah Firebird, Lexus' whole reasoning was that it was unsafe to be operating the NAV routes while in motion, so it disables that feature in Drive. I just like how fast it is in comparison to the prior version.

In any NAV comparo I've read in USA car mags or EURO car mags Lexus's System beats them handily. The Acura system is not bad but it needs a bigger screen IMO. Forget the Benz or BMW or Audi systems, they'll drive u nuts...

Addressing your rock chips...sorry to say but you just have to get used to it.....that's Acura's sucky clear coat. Yeah, yeah I've heard everyone stating that it's not their fault, water-based paint, blah blah blah....But wouldn't the fact that there is a water-based paint cause Acura to research or develop a stronger clear coat???????

After one week is pretty bad to have a rock chip.....try 7 months down the road...my hood is starting to look like a dot-to-dot.....and all Acura has ever said about it is, our paint is thick according to industry standards...what about the clear coat dumbazzzz????

PAINT

Place fault where it's due. Don't blame Acura, blame the tree-hugging EPA and all the eco-clubs of America.
