Angry Pinstriped TL Yuck!!!

Hey guys. I bought a 97 Tl a few weeks ago. The car is black with gold pinstriping. The thin ones. It didnt bother me at first but since having the windows tinted...I hate it. it would be easy to remove them if they were the stick on type as I thought at first. The damn things are painted on.....damn. Any suggestions as to how to remove them without screwing up my paint? TIA.

try acetone on a small piece. Oftentimes, its just a thin applicay that has a clear coat on it. Acetone will remove many of these applications. It should not hurt the paint, but afterwords, you'll need to rewax since it does take that off.

Hmm. Will Langka work? Since supposedly the factory paint is different than most of the paint you put on your car.

That's what I told Blackshadow too. He has those ugly yellow pinstriping on his otherwise really nice Black TL.

Thanks for responding guys. I'm going to try the acetone idea this weekend. Hopefully the acetone won't damage the factory paint. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Wish me luck.

The acetone thing scares me - I'd make sure to try it on the underside of the trunk lid or something to make sure it doesn't hurt the finish. Since you know the stripes weren't factory applied, the dealer must have someone do it for them. Why not find out who it is and ask them what THEY would use. Just my .02.
