pillar painting practice

I want to fix my door pillars that are faded and chipping away.

Since i have no experience painting i want to practice on something before i attempt painting the pillars, so I wanted to know if anyone can recommend a material that i can practice on that would be similar to painting the pillars.

Thanks

I would just go ahead and do it. If you follow some directions on the website, you should get a pretty good turn out. Also check the other thread started by me. It has some helpful info, I am gonna use it myself. Mine came out okay, but I want to see if I can get them looking any better.

You can't really screw it up......worst case, you have to sand and repaint. Remember, several thin coats = better than one heavy coat. Good luck & have fun.
