Well...

Smitty,

1. I like the "maglite beater" Very nice...
2. I love this forum but it seems like everyone is always so fast to start attacking one another. Like Rodney King said 13 yrs. ago--"Can't we all just get along?"

I talked to Dennis from Lotek yesterday and he's expecting them to come in by week's end (March 19) so those of us that have orders in will hopefully get them by the end of next week.

I measure the gauge holes and it measured alittle smaller than 2 inches, so what size gauges should I get?

I haven't really started looking yet b/c I'm not sure about the sizes b/c I DON'T HAVE IT YET (bastard). Once I get them, I'm gonna start looking at AutoGauges.

The cut-outs are for 52mm (or 2-1/16 inch) gauges.

The most important IMO, is fuel pressure. Boost is a common and nice thing to have but since this is a belt driven blower it is not likely to fluctuate. But it is always good to know that the appropriate fuel pressure is there.

IMO, and this is just if you have a 5AT, but I would look into a transmission temperature gauge.

I got mine a few days ago and they had areas where the paint flaked off. Who should I call about this? Did anyone else notice that? Also were these designed for the TL S or CL S cause the TL has a slightly different pillar but it will work out none the less.

Cool just got mine, paint is ?

just got the parchment pillar. they didn't get the color match right ( a shade too dark ) maybe about 2 shades. matches the darker tan in the car. they didn't even match the paint to the sample trim piece i sent them? anyway, from what i can tell there's only one coat of paint on the pillar which might explain the flaking. personally, i'm just going to repaint or dye match it. (sherwin williams has an automotive division that makes dye) you could find a color match at home depot in a spray paint too and go that route since it needs another 2 coats of paint imho anyway. not the end of the world...the pod locations look perfect! i'm satisfied just to get the gauge pod for our cars!

Well I just tested on both my 2000 TL and my friends 03 TL S. We have the same pillar except mine is vinyl covered and his is cloth. The top part of the guage pod they sent me is cut wrong as if for a different car. Could it be they sent me a CL S pod instead of a TL one?

Cut wrong how?? This has been put on other TL's and it is the same as the CL. Maybe something is incorrect about your piece.

Both of the peices I got have the same problem and I tried mounting them right on to the sheet metal I just overlaped them for comparison but it clearly is different at the top. They list the TL and CL seperatly on their site. Do they have 2 molds or did they assum it would fit a TL?

Unhappy i didn't check that on my 99?

i have a modified gauge pod from a 99 honda accord molded onto my a-pillar now. o.k i just checked and the pillar, and the cut at the top and bottom looks just like my 99 tl pillar. so i don't see a fitment issue. they also have 2 screws and tabs the cl must have that the tl doesn't. nighthawk your pics look like there is a defect! but it looks like your pillar would fit on my car fine? the cut looks different on your pillar?

Both of the pillars they sent me are like that. I am wonderning if it is a defect but I find it hard to believe. The darker one underneath in the pic is the factory one. The sides and botoom line up perfect the toop doesnt have the right slant or even enough material.

I am talking to them now. They were not aware they were different. The CL and TL pillars are different not by much just at the top but enough that it wont fit correctly with the head liner. I am talking to Lotech via email and showing them the difference. It isn't much I'm hoping they could easily retool one of the CL molds to have a different top. But thats their business. I'll post back what I find. I thought someone had both pillars checked. They didn't even have to buy them just have compared part numbers.

Part number between models are often irrelevant.

I did check them and put the spare I purchased up on a TL. Everything matched fine, excluding the material difference with '02+ TL having fabric.

I dont get it. You brought a TL pillar and it matched the CL pillar? Maybe the parts guy gave you 2 CL pillars one in the cloth and one in the vinyl years. My friends 03 and my 00 are the same pillar and head liner except for material covering thh pilar. The guagepod pillars didnt fit either of our cars. the headliners for a TL and CL are different. Its just enough at the part where it meets the pillar. What makes you say that part numbers can be irrelavant? I mean if the part fits but has differnt color or material then it has a different part number but any other part Ive compared #s for are the same with the MDX CL and TL if they are the same part.

I purchased an extra CL trim peice and matched it to a TL at the dealer. We didn't replace it but held it up in position and took several measurements.

Interesting and I am not sure where the discrepancy is...

Of the various parts I have ordered which should have been the same part number were often different. In many cases they were the same but that is not a garrantee. The same part may have a different part number between model years even though they are visibly the same.

I see why based on that they looked Identicle. Well its funny but when I laid it over mine before trying to install it, it looked exact also so I can see where it looked to be the same. I took the pillar off and tried the gaugpod alone and it wasnt correct at the top. Then I overlaid the too while off the car and it was clear why it didnt fit.

I see so the same # is obviously the same part but the same part may have 2 numbers. I believe that occurs when 2 different manufacturers make the part or it has been revised in some way like material used, internals or way it is manufactured and thus may look the same but has been changed somehow.

Cool did everyone get a defect on the ebony pillar?

or just nighthawk? seems like they would all be off for a tl ? since you put them on. sorry for your trouble. i asked my tech and he said the pillars should be the same for 99-2003? except fabric. i'll send you my modified black gauge pod we fabricated before the lotek GB when i put my new pillar on if you want? unless you get lotek to fix the issue. let me know?

i went to install my gauges today and my pillar doesn't fit right either. the a-pillar for the tl is shaped differently at the top than the cl a-pillar. the guy from lotek said in order to have a tl a-pillar gauge pod made we would need to order 30. i doubt 30 tl owners would want one since it was hard to get the amount needed to get the these made.

There are more TL-S owners with nitrous or Supercharger than CL S I believe. I think it would be easier but the problem is the CLS people had our sales to bump up their number.

I was hoping this wasnt true and that there were just a few defects, but mine doesnt fit either. Has anyone come up with a way to cover the gap up top so we can still use this pillar?
