I hate the sorry paint job, there is no excuse for that! If the leaves keep falling on my car i may have no paint left ! I can live with the other problems.

My biggest pet peeve is plastic lower body panels on the rear of the car that don't match the the WDP paint on the rest of the car.

Damn!! I'm glad my '99 doesn't have all those problems!
Hey Einstein, bet you'll look more closely for those things on your next car The paint on my TL is so smooth and shiny, no complaints. But I had to use the touch-up a while back when I stupidly opened the hood while the driver's side wiper was up . Scraped the edge of the hood but the touch-up looks like a perfect match. Maybe you should get a bottle from a different lot if possible?
I agree that the great minds at Acura could have added a few of those little conveniences that you all mentioned, but their objective was to deliver a great car for the price. Which they did.

Besides, put your minds to work and I'm sure you guys can figure out how to install additional lighting, or whatever, in your TL. Customize!

I considered making this one of mine, but standing back and taking a look at the big picture, I think they picked a good OEM tire. It has a high enough speed rating to nix the speed limiter. They are well-made tires that give the car a higher EPA rating.

Most of the car magazines that reviewed the car said that it is still the best buy even if you have to spend extra money to replace the tires when you buy it.

This give you the option to get whatever tire you want and still be better off than you would if you bought another car.

Think of it this way, if the TL came with higher performance tires, then the car might get an EPA penalty, causing the price of the car to be higher. Then you would end up paying more for the car, and not have your favorite tires on the rims still.

Einstein, you said that there was a lack of "windows up" on the key fob. Is there a "windows down?" I know a lot of German cars have both (VW, BMW, Audi) and the last generation Maxima had windows down. Am I missing something??

Here's one that I don't believe anyone has mentioned yet.
Nice tilt feature on the moonroof...great for allowing hot air to escape the passenger compartment on those hot summer days. However, if you decide to leave the moonroof shade closed it don't do any good! Leave it wide open and the sun starts baking the interior! Would have been nice to have a vented moonroof shade.

Because I like EVERYTHING else about the car (other than my list). The things I like about the car would be WAY too big of a list, and would have to be put under another topic to be appropriate.

It's kinda like your spouse. Make a list of things you don't like about her. It's an easier list to make then all the things you like about her. But those are the reasons you love her and let you get over the pet peeves.

Anyway, since you are such a newbie, go back and read my posts over the months. You'll see that I love my car 99%.

And the window control on the fob... I wished it had windows up so that I could leave the windows open a crack, then push the button if I see rain out my office window. I know the fob doesn't do windows down, either. That would be a security issue, wouldn't it?

sorry einstein it was meant in humor.in reality this website is interesting because i can see what customers are up to with their cars and what sort of problems they are encountering with the cars.but since it is about pet peeves with the TL here are some of mine:
1)i agree the cars have some noise issues most of these can be addressed however if a customer has a noise issue do me the mechanic a favor, leave your golf equipment clothes shoes dogfood dirty underwear rubbers and a myriad of other personal belongings at home .i am the mechanic not the maid!!
2)if your car smells funny look around in the interior maybe it's that sandwich, burger, frenchfries dirty diaper rotten container of milk seeping into the rug etc etc again i am the mechanic not the maid
3)should you decide that your TL is loud on the road from new york to boston and back again ,don't come and cry and call both the car and us everything under the sun untill you have made sure that you did not put the car in sport shift and forget to upshift the thing past second gear ,think i am joking??? no way it really happened some joker actually drove the car to boston and back to new york on I95 in second gear and complained the car was too loud .my manager had the pleasure of dealing with this guy !!
this and countless other examples of customer based insanity make my everyday something special.in reality most of our customers are great people who would not even consider doing this sort of stuff on even a really bad day but there some that do just try not to be one of them

If I hear another comment on cupholders I'm going to vomit. It's scary when people start writing about poor cupholders. Try keeping both hands on the wheel, and enjoy the driving experience!

Man, you guys really hate your TL's better trade it in for an IS300 or BMW 328 or something.

I have only a few complaints:
No foglights.
No memory seats, like in my Legend
No foglights.
$2,000 extra for Navi, to pricey.
Salesman tricked me on price.
He said he'll sell me the car for $29,200 w/dest.
then next thing he gets the contract and adds $455 for dest on top of the 29,200, what da? I still bought from his but got him to add a cheap $50 sunroof visor free.

I have not read this complaint above, so here goes. (Even though most of you might not think it is a big deal.)

- There is no key hole in the trunk area. I don't know, I just think it needs to be there. Call me crazy.

How can you keep both hands on the wheel when the cupholder won't hold your 40?

Seriously, the little holder nearest the shift is way too tiny, but the one behind it is OK for me. I like 20oz sodas, and they only fit in the 2nd holder, so my girl's gotta hold hers in her lap.

BTW, I use the little space under the ashtray/coin holder for my cell phone. I keep the charger in the armrest for when I need it, and the radar detector's hardwired so I still get to use my $135 cigarette lighter to help me stink up the leather with Marlboros. Speaking of, the BMW dealer here in town has fake leather scent for the interior that smells pretty muck like a new car.

Ok, here's a pet peeve that it seems every OTHER car has but not our TL:

I absolutley hate when there is still a mechanical-style stalk that sticks out of the tach's plexiglas for resetting the trip odometer when the damn thing is electronic. The TL has a nice electronic version and it doesn't take up space on the gauges! Nice touch!

-damn 99 has a 4-speed
-rear subwoofer rattles
-no memory seats
-my car has 58,000 miles and it is in the shop getting an entirely new transmission put in
-no fog lights
-weak brakes (they shake like all hell at speeds over 100)

but overall i still love the car. even with all of that it is still fun to drive!!

Cool

I have very few:

1. I wish it had memory seats.
2. I wish there were rear-seat reading lights.
3. The moonroof switches should be up with the moonroof, so that either front passenger could use them.

I'm sure I could dig for a few more, and a couple of you guys mentioned other small annoyances I'd agree with.

But the small problems pale in the face of the TL's overall goodness and high value. I spent a lot of time looking at other sport sedans at the NE Car Show last week, and I still feel that nothing comes close to the TL for anywhere near its price. (Well, with the possible exception of the Passat V6, which is a very different kind of car.)

The first cars up-market that I believe seriously challenge the TL are the 525i and the A6 2.8, and maybe the Lincoln LS V6. You'd actually have to look at the 530i, the A6 2.7t, and the LS V8 before you'll beat the TL's straight-line performance!

The TL is a remarkable car. We all made a good decision.

After owning the car for several months now, I can say I do have my dislikes and likes about the car.

One major dislike is the fact that it isn't a 2002 TL-S!!

Some things have changed in the new models that people have wanted / complained about before.

There are a few things that are nice about the car too.

Both dislikes and likes are more obvious to me after spending many hours on this forum.

But from all the experiences of owners, you would hope Honduh is listening. I really hope that if there is going to be a major improvement such as a 6-speed in the future, that they will announce it way in advance so that people would have a choice to buy what they really want and not regret their purchase after the new model with the improvements come out.

But if Honduh were to make all the improvments we have discussed, the car would no longer be in the low 30K rage.

1. No OEM fog lights available
2. Bay Area Acura dealers are the worst!
3. Stock stereo has Sub and Amp but doesn't put out
4. To easy to spend $$$ on mods.
5. Body seems to ding and scratch too easily
6. Prewired for CD doesn't mean prewired in the trunk.
7. The owners manual does not contain enough information.

But still better than my BMW 3series I sold.
