I know this question has been asked but I'm trying to help a friend upgrade his engine in his 99 TL. He wants to do some engine mods that will get him some good power gains without putting out a ton of money. I figured a Cold air intake & a good exhaust system would be a good start. Anyone know about what say an Injen or AEM CAI would gain HP wise & any suggestions on a good exhaust system that doesnt cost a ton. Also, any other suggestions on some good power gaining mods? I figure cam gears would be good. Any info would be appreciated and estimated power gains would be perfect!

It all depends on what you mean by costing a ton. You can gain close to 30 hp with I/H/E. I have the AEM CAI on my 99 TL and I can already feel a difference. I am getting headers and exhausts next summer (hopefully). You can also get pulleys and spark plugs. I also heard that comptech is coming out with an ice box. All of this would run you around $2000+.

IMO, get the I/H/E first.

 

Who does a good Header & Exhaust?

 

Im gonna go the way of Comtech headers with remus mufflers and a custom 3 inch cat back setup.

 

It depends on your preference. But a lot of people on this board buy Comptech H/E.

 

Any webpage for comptech? Any other headers available?
