Question performance muffler sounds?

i have an axle back performance muffler system. the sound is different than stock but does not sound any thing like the accords and eclipses i hear with one performance muffler. i was curious if it was because i have an axle back system or if its because the tl has two resonators? or just my muffler are a silencer style and its just my mufflers?

input welcome before i rip these off and put another brand on and waste another 500 bucks.

What brand do you have now??

There are louder ones, but that doesn't mean they give more performance

I think some people removed the resonator and that make it louder..

If you want them to be louder what I would try first is taking off the second resonator. I can't tell you how much louder it will get, but I have heard good things. And the muffler guy can easily put it on again if it is irratating. Should cost like $20. Remember to post sound clips.

If the mufflers were universal, then why didn't you get new piping from the cat-back rather than axle-back?...this would of also made the exhaust sound a bit louder due to the resonator removal.

this was one of my first mods, therefore i wanted to be able to change back to oem with ease. i was also told that the 'y' split had a nice design for air flow and no one in my town could do a better job. thats from the muffler people. since that mod i have totally screwed up the oem ability of the car. i do have all the original parts like the mufflers, air intake box and hose, springs, oil cap, light bulbs etc. i guess ill remove the second resonator but i would also like better air flow from it with at least 1 horse power improvement.

for anyone who has removed the 2nd resonator: is it loud? how much louder than stock??? also, do you just roll to the exhaust shop and say "I would like to get my resonator removed?" they will know what I'm talking about? I might be doing this soon until I get my HKS. oh, and does removing it hurt the warranty of the car? thanks

Stinkboy, the OEM Y-pipe is a garbage design and does not flow very good, I can't believe the muffler shop told you that!...I had all new piping from the cat back including a more evenly distibuting and higher flowing Y-pipe...I had the exhaust shop weld on a flange on the end of the piping where it meets the cat so I could remove the whole section if I ever wanted...so I can go back to OEM with just ubolting my custom cat-back section and bolting back the OEM piping...I definitely have gained a few HP and a great low rumble!!
