It pays to know people

I have a good friend that is a service writer for a local Toyota dealership. He washed my car on Friday and noticed the infamous door pillar defect. Apparently he made some calls and has a friend at the local Acura dealer. They're going to replace them under warranty which blows me away since I have 67K on the clock. Did they extend the warranty on them?

Anyways, I'm happy they are getting replaced for free! Now if they could only replace the seat cover and heater element while they're at it.

Werd. My rear door pillars (both sides) were horrible soon after the warranty expired. I just took the car to my dealer and they replaced them for free. Only problem.... 2 weeks later, the fronts looked like crap. I was hoping the dealer would replace ALL 4. So now I'm going to go back and see if they will replace the fronts for free or for real cheap, or order new ones for $60ea.

They start to slightly degrade, or shrink, or delaminate, or whatever the right word is! I noticed it the day I got mine used. I'm not sure how to describe it and I don't have my camera right now or I'd take a photo. Do a search and someone will have posted photos. The door pillar material on mine looks like it's rippled in some places, or "peeling" even though it's not literally peeling right off the car.

Acura has to call me when they come in, then they are sending it to the bodyshop to have everything painted, so it won't happen again. I get a loaner car =)

Mine are pretty bad. Too bad I don't feel like dropping two hundred dollars on all new pillars. Maybe I'll see if BraveDemon can give me the low down on his Chrome pillars. :-D
