Parallel Parking
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but does anyone know the law for parallel parking? I know that you have to be within one foot from the curb but is there any rules as to how close people can parkfrom your car (front and back)? I bring this up because I was parked on the street and the cars in front and back were really close to me so I had to do some extreme Austin Power's action to get out.
Thanks in advance!!!
Feel free to delete this thread if it seems out of place, thanks.

Yup...Austin Powers!!!
Damn, I just think it's so inconsiderate that they blocked me in. The curb I parked on can fit three cars and I was in the middle. Why don't the end cars park as close as possible to the end of the curb, that way I'll have an easier time getting out. Thats what I always do when I'm at the end. Guess there has to be inconsiderate people if there's considerate people.
Thanks for the quick reply.

I think it would be really cool if you didn't have to be in the car while it parallel parked itself. You could just get out of the car and lock it "beep beep" and then start to walk away while the car begins to park itself...that would be BALLIN'!!! (that's what Dave Chapelle would have done in Chapelle's Show)

It's kinda hard to explain but think of throwing a ball at a wall down a ally. The ball will keep on ricocheting between the two alleys. That's how it looks like ahha.

if no one saw it..no one did it. back then, I was a little kid watching from across the street how this guy was bumping into a mercedes and some other car. This was in an alley too. I asked my dad why he did that and he was like, " this is how chinese people park." HAHA...so it's not something out of the ordinary.

I have to parallel park my TL every day too, and I've already gotten scratches on my rear fender from idiots trying too park to close to me.
So now whenever possible, I intentionally park so that nobody can get within 3-5 feet of me. I'm pretty sure my neighbors hate me by now.
On busy days, it screws everyone else, but if it avoids me getting more scratches, who cares, they can kiss my brown

Now that I think about it, I don't feel like you need to leave your information when you "bump" a car at really low speeds (<2.5mph). Isn't that what the 2.5 mph rule for bumpers are for? And I'm pretty sure that when people hit your car when they open their doors at the parking lots at the malls, grocery, etc. they don't leave any information. I was just talking about it to my co-worker and she mentioned the "door ding". I thought, that is a perfect example...except the "door ding" can do some major damage.
