Painting OEM Lip Kit
So I was doing some research on this forum last night for a few hours on this topic. But I still can't decide on my own on what I should do. Long story short, I bought a lip kit from another member, and it must be repainted to WDP (it's green right now). I'd love to get a shop to paint it for me as from my research, WDP is very hard to match, and it's a tri-coat paint. But from what I've seen, it's not going to be cheap even for an "ok" job. So I'm planning to paint it myself. Again, from my research on this forum, some have recommended paintscratch.com and towerpaint.com. I know for sure paintscratch.com has the color I want, and it will also come with 2 separate cans, one's the base white coat, the other is the mid coat (pearl coat??). I can get primer and clear coat elsewhere. For towerpaint.com though, I'm not sure if they will send me two separate cans or not (emailed them already, just waiting for their reply).
So, do you think it will be fine if I were to paint my kit to WDP on my own? If so, what do I have to look out for? I know I will need the following:
soap to clean the kit first
Sandpaper (400-1500 grit) to get rid of the old clear coat to achieve a dull finish
Spray paint for primer, base coat, mid coat, and clear coat
Some rubbing compound and swirl remover
Please let me know if I missed something.
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What your problem is?
You going to spray paint the lip??? Don't do it... buy a spray gun and get the right paint... don't cheap out here... or you can just get the entire car painted a different color...

Thanks indoMFP. According to fftyms (I can't remember the moderator's username...sorry..), he also recommended using a spray gun. So by spray gun, do you mean something like this,
http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...romSearch=true
And also, do you guys recommend painting it myself?

You can try but it probably wont turn out very good (unless you have done this before)
If you do try to do it, if the kit is in good shape you shouldnt need to primer it. Just sand the clear with 600 to dull and even out the finish.

Wait!! What colour green is it? LGM??....I bought a front lip as well which is WDP and need to paint it LGM, we can always trade if you want? Was thinking the same thing as you (painting it myself)...the sides are primed and rdy to do just the front is WDP. Let me know if you want to swap, and I'll send you pics of the lip.
PS. Its a 99TL front lip...which one do you have?
