painting headlights on an '03

i took apart an extra set of '03 headlights that i had and i wanna paint them. im gonna paint them black. what i need to know is what kind of paint can i use so that it wont peel or be affected by the sun and that willbe shiny... i dont want it to look flat black. please let me know... i wanna do this asap. i'll also post pics.

you should sand the 'chromed' part down

i dont wanna risk chipping it where the light shines off. the part im painting is the one that lays flat against the clear plastic lens.

get a good primer and you will be dfine, its not exposed to the elements so i wouldnt worry about it, why dont you have it black chromed by a shop that does gold and chrome plating (places that do emblems and stuff)

cool... thanks a lot for the info... i didnt even think of black chrom but anyways... i want it to be black... i have seen it before on a '99-'01 tl and i liked the way it looked. im gonna use a rubber roller to apply the paint.

im gonna have mine black chromed this spring cause i like the "black" look too

y a rubber roller? why not spray paint? just wondering

or you can use a spray can and just mist it over it...works best

if i use spray paint, i would have to cover up the inside of the chrome... i only want to paint the edge... the part the lays flat against the clear lense. with a rubber roller it would be much easier.

Take those parts to local bodyshop, and ask them to SHOOT professionally.

You don't want to F@CK up your H/L.

you guys have great advice...i also want to paint my o3 headlights, but does it matter if they are hid's ...what kind of paint woulf we use also?
